Prospect Info: Jakub Dobes (2020 - 136th, USHL- Omaha Lancers)

he's always been a raw goalie. at Ohio State he was all athleticism, pretty sloppy. he's reigned it in over the years but still has some work to do to contain his game - rebound control, efficiency of movement - and you can tell he knows it. i think it was at the end of the 2nd period (maybe the 1st), he was shaking his head at himself for his lack of control on a last second save.

anyway, good win for him tonight. hope he gets another two games before the end of the season to give Montembeault some rest.

If Jakub's learning curve is anywhere near as spectacular as Monty's has been we will all come to realize how blessed we are with this diamond in the rough.
He has already mastered the head space needed to excel in this market/league. He can't help but get better technically and will always be my preference in messy games. He's already proven in Laval he knows how to win before he's learned how to properly play goal. :amazed:

He's been the better goalie in the limited number of games he's played imo. He should have gotten more starts.

Hopefully he's ready to step in at any moment in the playoffs, although I fully expect MSL to ride Montembeault no matter how he plays.

Hopefully he does well next year again and earns MSL's trust. We need a good backup. And if he plays well, he'll get a lot of games.

Switching goalies at the opportune time in a series is a tried and true method of getting momentum back.

I really hope MSL doesn’t ride Monty no matter what. Dobes has the potential to steal a few. Monty has to be plenty tired too.

Dobes represents our best chance to Halak the Ovechkin-led Caps once again. Assuming they don't call up Fowler.
