Prospect Info: Jakub Dobes (2020 - 136th, USHL- Omaha Lancers)

I can see Dobes getting 6 more NHL starts until the FN break, and then he goes back to the AHL. Laval Plays 5 games between Feb 10 to Feb 21, so he can play around 3 or even 4 of those games during the break before coming back. The Habs only have 3 back-to-backs for the rest of the schedule.
Logical lay out...nicely done

Thanks. Depending on Monty's workload during the FNs, Dobes can get anywhere between 9 at the very least to maybe 12-14 at the most NHL games this year with those 4 AHL games between. That's pretty good. I said before that we should get a vet G instead, but I was wrong because I didn't analyze the schedule. Would he be eligible to go back to the AHL if Laval has a playoff spot and the Habs miss? If so, when is the cut off?

Is the cut off around the trade deadline?

Huge Carey Price vibe with this kid.

I don't said that he is going to be good like Price, but he play calm like him and he is good behind is net aswell.

He looks big in his net.

Huge potential, for sure!

It has been a while since we've seen dominant performances like Dobes has given us, likely have to go back to 2022 when the Hamburglar was trying to f*** up our draft spot.

As a fan, it is easy to feel confident with a guy like Dobes in net, so it must be a huge boost for the team. He's got the size, is smart positionally and when he's out of position he still has the athleticism to make saves.

With the positioning, size and a bit of swagger to his game he gives off a lot of Carey Price vibes.

I think the cut off is just to be on the roster by then, they can paper him down and call him back up, I think.
That's never an issue unless the player the team wish to send down is not waiver exempted anymore.

But the Habs will make the playoffs so they have no reason to do it. :naughty:

I just hope people are ready for the eventual tough game when it happens. We don't need him to be Price every game. Just being a quality backup that gives us a chance to win is all I ask for. Something Primeau couldn't give us this season.

Dobes has a nice looking butterfly. Kind of pitched forwarded slightly. Makes him quicker on his skates than traditional butterfly straight up and down. Stay high cover more of the net. Also makes it hard to put rebounds over him. Less of a scoring angle high. Jeff Hackett near end of his career changed his style here to similar

Maybe Habs should get Marciano to be their goalie coach at NHL level ?

"I don't think we weren't supposed to win these games.

We have something special going on in the locker room. I don't think we should be considered underdogs. That's my mentality. I believe in the group of players in front of me and I don't think we're underdogs.

Since I've played with them I've had confidence in the players on this team and I think we should be confident going forward. We're very close to a playoff spot and we're going to have to work hard to prove that we belong." - Jakub Dobes

This was a quote from our 10 year NHL veteran #1 starting goalie, yes?

He should definitely get the next start. Both Washington and Dallas are strong opponents, so it doesn't really matter which you assign IMO. Monty slipped a bit last game as well.

Dobes save against Wilson:
