Very, very, very easily the #1 in a redraft, and Stutzle is a very easy #2.

Sanderson has been better than Stutzle this year, but I still take Stu #1 in a redraft(though that may be because I think getting a #1 centre is harder than getting a #1 defenceman).

For all the media talk about getting goaltending being the key to Ottawa making the playoffs, or Tkachuk is the leader that drags them into the fight, or Stutzle being the electric #1 center that is dangerous every shift - Sanderson is the best player on this team and MVP. There's zero doubt in my mind about it.

Hockey is still a team game and no individual player can truly be the only reason behind a team's success (ok Hasek maybe), but without Jake this team would be screwed. And once the playoffs start, I think he's going to be even more critical; he's a big game player on top of everything else that's calm with a great work ethic and a student of the game. That poise and influence bleeds into everyone else around him.

I'm excited to see how the rest of the guys perform and can't wait for a healthy rested Tkachuk to finally taste playoff hockey, but Tkachuk has a tendency to try too hard instead of playing his game to maximum effectiveness so we'll see what happens there. Sanderson is the only guy on this team I don't worry about

When people talk about Brodeur or Roy or whoever, it's always like, "oh yeah, indisputably one of the all time greats, no question"

Hasek? His name comes up and everyone says, "well that's not even fair to compare anyone to Hasek, he's basically Jesus"

I've never seen anything like him and never will again

There's levels to goaltending, and Hasek having back to back MVPs on top of his Vezinas and insane save percentage separate him from Roy, Brodeur, or anyone else.

I was alive to watch The Dominator dominate the league against the creme de la cremes of all-time greats playing in the 90s. The greatest goalie of all time and it’s not even close.

Roy’s four cups are a testament that he too belongs in the conversation and he is my #2.

Brodeur was great but also benefited from the trappings of Lou Lam built and Lemaire coached Devils and beyond.

Like Hasek, Jagr is also similarly underrated, when Lemieux had taken a break from hockey to cure himself, Jagr was the most dominant forward in the league. He just did whatever he wanted to and any time he wanted to against any defencemen. In an era that still had Gretzky scoring 100+ points.

Sanderson is 10th overall for points for NHL defensemen. And, Sanderson’s ability to defend is arguably his best skill at which he is one of the best in the league.

Stutzle isn’t even in the top 20 for scoring and his main job is to score.

I think Sanderson is clearly the more valuable and better player. He’s ostensibly still underrated somehow, even by a few Senator fans.
