Lot of "little brother syndrome" from this fanbase sometimes.

Threads get made as soon as a promising young player starts to outperform expectations, which is just annoying.

Sanderson seems to be insanely underrated by a number of fans, who apparently haven't moved off of his projection as a defensive D pre-draft, but it's still cringe to see threads on the main board touting how great he is. People will figure it out on their own.
100%, let them figure it out. Unfortunately for us, there are pre-scouts in the real NHL, so no one's gonna be surprised these days.

Now if only we could acquire Bald Bull as well.

Sandman is great, he made a noticeable jump in his offense sophomore year in the NCAA and looks like he's doing the same in the NHL. Our 2020 draft is almost like the Stars' 2017 where they got Heiskanen and Robertson. Franchise altering years for both of us.

Back when Hyman was on the Leafs:

He had just finished a season with 33 points in 43 games.

Players who've made Canada's Men's Olympic hockey team (when the NHL participates)

• Shayne Corson (1998)
• Rob Zamuner (1998)
• Mike Peca (2002)
• Kris Draper (2006)
• Brenden Morrow (2010)
• Patrick Sharp (2014)
• Chris Kunitz (2014)

A "lock" is a bit of a stretch, but Team Canada has a history of taking a specialist player who can do some of the grunt work. Zach Hyman is in the same ballpark as those guys, and the "plays well with Marner" would have been part of a conversation.

Fast forward a couple years and Hyman on Team Canada is not nearly as controversial a take: Projecting Team Canada’s roster for expected 2025 World Cup of Hockey

Makes me trust O'Dog's view on Sanderson even more! He's an oracle.

(Insert McDavid winger here)

I like O’Neill but at least half of what he says is for his own amusement or to be a troll IMO.

He's one of the few guys who openly calls out the Twitter spreadsheet and colored chart brigade, who are now overrepresented in hockey media and conversation. So I appreciate that.

Kind of like Methot.

He hasn't even played all that well for the last 10 games or so.

Him and Stützle are amazing. They are each not at the top of their games, yet they each continue to impose their will on games.

When they are both humming, it will be glorious.

Starting to think that Sanderson isn't just the teams best defenseman. He's becoming the best player on the team period.
100%. I've thought this for a while.

Stü, Chuck, Giroux and Chychrun are all excellent players, but I truly think Sanderson is the best overall player on the Sens and one of the best D in the league.

Sanderson is having a great yr, no doubt about it, he's fun to watch. He still makes some young player mistakes occassionally, but he can recover from those mistakes better than anyone I have seen in quite some time.

I would rather the Sanderson from last year who had less points instead of the turnover machine of this year. Less is more with Jake.
He has the skill and vision to be a league-wide top-10 #1 defenseman. He needs reps to do this without the pressure of trying not to make game-breaking mistakes. He needs to be on the 2nd pair this year at 5-on-5, not the first pairing. #1 PK and #2 PP is good for him too.
