ONE PERSON suggests "So maybe Kovacevic + 2nd + b/c prospect?" and that means there are "proposals from montreal fans" and Jake Evans' value is a 4th-round pick?you said i have to wait until the deal is done before celebrating victory.
and there are proposals from montreal fans in this thread: kovy for evans
unless you think evans is worth a 4th the trade was a win for the devils and we can celebrate the victory. if not, i happily send you another 4th for evans.
I'll probably get slammed for this but what would the Habs want from the Leafs for Evans and Savard?
that was the ask for evans + armia (50% retained).ONE PERSON suggests "So maybe Kovacevic + 2nd + b/c prospect?" and that means there are "proposals from montreal fans" and Jake Evans' value is a 4th-round pick?
Would NJ fans do Evans for Kovacevic?
The issue is, one team is likely selling, the other is likely buying...Yep, I think both Kovacevic and Evans have similar value.
One is a defensive, good on the PK, good at face-off RHC.
The other is a big, defensive, physical RHD.
Both are sought after commodities comes the TD.
Both are worth at least a 2nd rd pick and some...

The issue Habs fans are facing is that we already have plenty of draft picks and an already deep prospect pool all around.Never understood the idea that some fans have that their team doesn't want more picks.
Picks can be bundled and traded to get higher on the draft board. they can be traded for a player at the draft.
Logic and past trade values don’t necessarily match.Look at this. Study it. Look at it again. Study it harder.
Then ask yourself if what you are about to say make sense in term of an offer for an existing NHL player.

Draft picks also aren't valuable because of the hit rate. They're valuable because of the upside and surplus value they provide with 7 cost controlled years.Logic and past trade values don’t necessarily match.
History states at best he gets a late second rounder maybe the most middling of prospects tacked on.
So highest of the 3 2nd round picks Devils have and Stillman be enough ?Logic and past trade values don’t necessarily match.

Probably a 2nd + 4th. No one wants Stillman. So highest of the 3 2nd round picks Devils have and Stillman be enough ?
Or what would the cost be to take Tatar or Haula ? Evans for a 2nd , 3rd , Tatar ?
Evans to NJ makes a boat load of senseI understand, but NJ has depth at RD, they can afford to give Kovy because they have Nemec to take his spot (their former 2nd overall pick needs to play).
And they already have a solid veteran presence at RD, with Hamilton and Pesce.
Kovacevic would be the price they pay, instead of giving a 2nd+ and instead of losing him for nothing this summer.
Furthermore, according to NJ fans, a center like Evans is something they'd need. Maybe they'd even sign him.
Jake Evans is not a 2nd-line center. The only thing worse than playing Jake Evans on the 2nd-line would be paying Evans 2nd-line money.Rather the Habs resign Evans even if overpaid a bit. It seems like such a pain in the ass to get centers that can actually play decently. We also have a giant hole for a 2nd line center which we can't even fill properly because no 2nd line center is even available.
Do you want any retention?I'll probably get slammed for this but what would the Habs want from the Leafs for Evans and Savard?
I wasnt saying he would be our 2nd line center I was saying that its a pain in the ass to even get a 2nd line center and having to fill a 3rd line center spot would compound the issue. We might as well sign him to play 3rd line center and be done with it and quickly try and fill the 2nd line center spot that a lot of teams are looking to fill. We need to weaponize our picks and cap space before someone else does.Jake Evans is not a 2nd-line center. The only thing worse than playing Jake Evans on the 2nd-line would be paying Evans 2nd-line money.
