and I would be ok with that.If he sign it's going to be 5 years at 3.75M.
He wont sing. A new contract with us makes no sense for both party unless we overpay. If he sign it's going to be 5 years at 3.75M.
Evans was never about the points. It's such a lazy argument.Five years for a 28 year old that has never put up more than 29 points is an EASY pass. Have we learned nothing from the Gallagher contract?
If they trade him and Armia together while retaining on Armia a cond 1st is not impossible. It's one of the best pk duo in the league. Dvorak gonna be the tough one to trade with that contract. Great 4th liner but with this contract ...I wonder what other teams are willing to offer.
When it comes to term and big bucks, it had better be about the points. This is a decent player that lacks physicality and grit - is 28 years old already, and certainly not worth locking up until he turns 33 or 34.Evans was never about the points. It's such a lazy argument.
His term is a year long and the money is perfectly adequate for a guy that shoulders so much defensive responsibilities. Without him, Suzuki would be so worn down. There's more to hockey than points. We need him with so many young Cs coming up, and he would get his money and term easily on the open market. You lose him, and you will be lamenting the black hole we will have at the C position for many years to come. When it comes to term and big bucks, it had better be about the points. I wouldn't sign him to a day over two years or a penny more than $3M (per year).
i would be shocked if this was the case.traded for a 2nd round pick

I suspect if they are still talking it will go pretty close to the deadline unless a team overpays or Evans decides he wants to end the uncertainty and stay. His term is a year long and the money is perfectly adequate for a guy that shoulders so much defensive responsibilities. Maybe 3 years from now. No way he can fill his shoes right now. That's crazy.Evans brings nothing Beck can't handle.
I think Evans is massively overrated on this board. He has played ONE full season in his career so far, and all this talk about great numbers this season, and they aren't yet even career highs for him. With that said, I do like Evans, but I think a long-term deal is going to be a mistake.
Agreed,
Now if I'm Evans, I 100% try to obtain the most money I can now because I'm 28 and just had my best year ever, who knows if will ever be duplicated and I can be injured tomorrow.
I don't accept a sweetheart deal from Montreal just because (unless they are willing to offer me within the ballpark of close to what I am looking for).
From Montreal's perspective, I don't see why you would want to offer this player the money he will command after the season he just had.
His career high is 29 points. He had 28 last year and has 27 so far this year. He's pretty much on par with his annual output. This year isn't a career high in goals or assists yet. Maybe it will. Maybe not. But seeing as he has played just one 82 game season, we should be looking to move him ahead of the deadline.
He doesn't want to re-sign with us because he wants to win ? Trade him to Toronto, they won a Cup not long agoIt is reported that contract talks are not going well and we all know what that means. Evans wants a chance to win and he wants to get paid. He gets one of those two desires by signing here and for that reason I think he's gone.
Unless you are posting from 1968 I don't get what you are saying. He doesn't want to re-sign with us because he wants to win ? Trade him to Toronto, they won a Cup not long ago
I’ll have you know, from a Leaf fan co-worker of mine, that the Leafs are definitely going all the way this year…Unless you are posting from 1968 I don't get what you are saying.
In the Toronto Sports Dictionary "going all they way" means making the playoffs, so technically your co-worker is right.I’ll have you know, from a Leaf fan co-worker of mine, that the Leafs are definitely going all the way this year…
