Of course we should keep evans the question is simply money , no shot we should overpay for bottom 6 guys
Might be more terms. If the Habs re-sign Evans it's not for long term.

They might even prefer to keep Condotta for the 4th line center job next year.

OK and I'm all for that, like Condotta on the 4th line a lot,
However Evans is not the 4th line center
And our supposed 2nd line Center is not even playing Center right now
And the 3rd line Center in Dvorak is NOT being brought back next year

So there's really more than enough room for Evans and Condotta (if Luca is even around next year himself lol) next year..
We thought we were deep at C
But we are absolutely not, not right now, and not next year as it stands

I think Jake gets a nice 4 year deal, hopefully not too expensive
But it wouldn't become an albatross kike Gallagher Anderson or armia as he is at least , crucially, a Center

Trading Evans at the TDL could happen if we're making a different deal to bring in a 2C. If we do that, then Evans becomes expendable. But people are right to point out the lack of depth at C

He will, sure. But players take a long time to come back from injury and get their timing back. Judging too early is dumb and potentially damaging if the decoders were to fall for the same trap.
Let's make one thing perfectly clear. We are heading into game 20 very soon Kirby Dach's issues have nothing to do with timing.
Mobility and confidence are what he is battling and no one can say with certainty when or if he will ever get both back.

I've seen a lots of pundits saying that Beck will finish the season in Montréal this year and stay (as a middle 6 center). Kapanen was just lacking speed/strength to make it this year.

Suzuki, Condotta, Evans, Beck and Kapanen next season. But I expect Dach to be returned to center before January hits this year.

I'd honnestly flip evans at the deadline if he has value, not even kidding. That said I doubt Hughes and Co are gonna get fleeced by evans in negociations , he might just end up walking
What's he realistically going to get you? We'll just have to pay the same thing to acquire another similar player in the future. Cest du classique pelleter par en avant.

Effort is the main one.

The same raison why Bergervin let Danault walk for free

Firstly I think Evans should be traded and I think we will get a solid return. Secondly Danault is a way better player than Evans. Not really close.

Yes he will be traded... and I'm sure there will be interest. He is a jackknife

I don't know about that.

When I see Suzuki put a puck into an area for Dach to go get and he doesn't it's too easy to say lack of effort.
Dach has never shown a lack of effort here in the past.

He's hesitant which for me equates to fear of either A: not getting there in time or B: re-injuring himself.
We went through almost an entire season of Caufield displaying some of the B: tendencies last season.

Fortunately for him it was a shoulder and his skating allowed him to do other things to help the line.
I knew Caufield was back when he separated a Dman from the puck using his body similar to what he did to Draisaitl on Monday night.

As far as Evans goes is he really going to be our 3C on a contending team?
