He had no real choice, that's all the Kings could afford and it make no sense to sell himself short and commit to a longer deal at that low AAV if he leaves the organization.

I’m surprised JAD as the safer floor player hasn’t been able to lock up an energy line role by now, I guess Lizotte really just took his spot. And the Kings went external to bring in what they expected Gabe to be 5 years ago.

Vilardi"s weakness is that he doesn't drive the puck to the net hard. He is too much of a perimeter player and even in this is not very effective. He seems to lack confidence in himself. Could be caused by the short leash that TM has him on.
