Prospect Info: Jacob Fowler

Carey Price also became dominant at around 23, before that he was just average but you could see he had a lot of potential.
At 20 : 24-12-6 2.56 .920% (Same percentage of Brodeur good for 6th in the NHL)

Can we have 2 just average goalie who become dominant like that at 23 :help:

It's very early, but there are three things I like about him. His hockey IQ, including how he tracks the puck, his calm and the combination of his technical abilities and his effectiveness in using them in the right situation (again hockey IQ). He seems very competitive too. I can see why so many posters like him. It's early though.

Even though Carey was almost a year younger when he started his Calder Cup run, I wonder if Fowler can put up better stats than him.

He was 15-6, 2.06 GAA, .936 SV, with 654 saves.

That's the bar at this *present* time
Let's see how close ge gets to it

The stats are 1 thing
The *Championship* is another lol

I hope he can become as good as Corey Crawford was with Chicago

I hope plays every game, or nearly every game, in this AHL playoffs.

I think Primeau will choose to sign with another organization this offseason. So Fowler's development is 100% more important than Primeau's.

Oh it's definitely not Primeau making that decision btw lol..
Primeau has been a good AHL goalie
I'm sure there will be offers from other teams.

Ideally Fowler plays the lion's share of the games next year, and the backup only plays so much. That's not a good situation for Primeau to be in. He needs to play a ton of AHL games year after year. Then, maybe in a couple of years he just may be mentally and technically ready for the NHL, or the KHL.

So i don't follow the rocket at all. Primeau is/was their starter and putting up pretty good stats. Fowler is being brought up to replace him in the playoffs?

Price did the same thing back in 2007 or whenever that was?

Primeau was called up to the Habs because Montembeault was hurt so Fowler by default became the starter. Primeau would have started had he been in Laval. Now they are just riding the hot hand. Can’t take a guy out after playing like this.

1ST CAREER S/O IN AHL PLAYOFFS FOR JACOB FOWLER

Isn't Primeau RFA this summer?

What I like about this is that it gave the habs a reason to put Fowler in net without just giving it to him unfairly like they did with Price back then.
A 5th overall pick was not played unfairly...that was 100% internal politics based of where he was drafted. There was no way he wasn't playing.

Halak went to the Worlds so Price just went first in front of Yann Danis the backup.

Allowing Halak to go to the Worlds was a strategic move, but it's not like they benched him.
Halak was first called up late in 06-07 season and played a few games down the stretch as Price was brought into the Hamilton fold, Halak went to WC after Habs were eliminated w a loss in Toronto last Sat of the season
