He isn't even on the radar to play in Montreal next season and likely won't threaten to dethrone the starter for at least 2 more seasons and very possibly 4-5 seasons. This is exactly how it works with goalies.

Such boring equipment. All of our goalies have easily the worst style in the league. I want to see more blue / red based pads! Like what Roy and Thibault had back in the day

He had two sets of pads in BC and has used more colorful set ups. I like this one as it's very clean. But don't worry about getting what you are asking for, he will bring it.

I really wish one of our goalies would go back to blue as the primary colour for our pads. It looks so awesome with our jerseys. Roy’s blue/red pads were peak brilliance, but Hackett and Thibault also had great blue/red sets.

They're clearly still going to go with Cayden and it would be stupid not too with how he's bounced back.

Price had those in 2021 preseason I believe. All blue with a touch of red they were beautiful. He also had the SICKEST bucket that year (the skull one In 2nd pic) but his daughter didn't like it so he dumped that too :/

I think that is a reach as Monty will still be under contract and one of Dobes or Primeau will be a well established back up. He may get into games due to injury but I think he is 3 years away from significant NHL games.

I do appreciate your optimism though....

He'll definitely get some NHL starts in the next year or two but I'd rather him join the team when he's ready to start, not play less than 20 games in a season as a backup. None of us who when he'll be ready. Could be ready in 2 years, could be 3, could be four. I don't think Montys contract is the one setting the timeline.

That is pretty rare as most starters have multiple seasons as a backup.

If he comes up as a backup, he won't just play 20ish games. I suspect it'll be north of 30. If he isn't reliable enough to handle that workload, then he shouldn't be in the NHL.
