What will probably happen is Fowler will get a couple of games and Primeau will defend in the playoff

I expect him to share the duties next year and be our number 1 goalie in the AHL with some NHL game in 2026-27

Depends on how Fowler does. They may be hoping for a Price run. Wasn’t fair to Halak, but they won with Price. Primeau shouldn’t be dumped yet, but I doubt the habs are worried about his feelings.

Thing is they have to choose a guy, and choose right. Lindgren and Condon did OK, and they probably regret going with Primeau. Goalies take time.

The guys is what 19-2-1 ? Primeau is their guy even if Fowler get 2/3 SO in his 2/3 games, and this management doesn't scream to me to screw Primeau, I think they want him to succeed, even somewhere else. That's the kind of good message you throw around the league

They have their starter and three other guys. Next year they have to decide who is in the NHL and how they split the starts in both leagues. Habs management have seen Primeau, they may want to see Fowler if he looks good in the regular season. Fowler could always show he’s not ready, too.

Primeau is a really good AHL goalie. The question is whether that is his limit or is he at the same point Lindgren and Condon were at before the habs let them walk and they played pretty well elsewhere.

At least during next year. It’s going to be tough, goalies are voodoo, Fowler is young, while Dobes and Primeau have had hot streaks and cold streaks.

Why not a rotation for the back up job with maybe 1 game or 2 for Fowler, against bottom teams

Maybe, depends on who’s hot. The hope is clearly that Fowler’s AHL numbers aren’t too far from his NCAA ones.

If Fowler plays well he’ll be fast tracked. That maybor may not be a good thing considering how long it takes most goalies to peak.
