Great news! I'm always a little worried these US kids will bolt for FA but the Habs have done well with them.

Yea, Habs are a good organization that treats their prospects well. I remember when Evans went back for a 4th year of college, everyone was panicking because they felt he would bolt. The Habs were a bad team and everyone thought he would opt to sign elsewhere. He ended up signing with Habs, and he said he was always going to sign with MTL because they 1) took a chance on him by drafting him and 2) they were in constant communication with him. So he felt like he mattered even if he was their final pick of that draft.

I love this kids swagger and he can back it up with his play. I hope he doesn't just sit around, and if he looks like the best of Laval's G they play him.
Why wouldn’t they - one or more of Gorton, Hughes & MSL have known these kids for years

Believe that's wise on his and the agent's part. If he hasn't established himself in the NHL in two years, he wouldn't be in a great bargaining position on his next deal. With Monty and Dobes ahead of him could be a while before he is a full time NHLer.
Levi was way more hyped than Fowler is and still hasn't cracked the league. Definitely not smart to burn the first year as a goalie.

Prized goalie prospects require patience. Askarov, Cossa, Wallstedt still haven't made the jump. Knight is in the NHL but he hasn't developed into the star goalie he was projected to become yet. Drafted almost 6 years ago.
i bet he takes over the starting job in the NHL mid-way through the 2026-2027 season
They moved Halak to make room for Price in Hamilton so I don't see why they wouldn't here
Primeau would have to be invited to the WHC for this situation to unfold

Fowler will get a few AHL starts before the playoffs to see how he does against AHL shooters, that will determine his playing time in the playoffs. Laval fans and players want to win, they deserve the best team to be iced.

The AHL is a development league. The Laval fans and the players are not the ones calling the shots here
