Confirmed with Link: Jacob Fowler sign with Habs and a AHL with Laval!!

You may want to look at Primeau's numbers, they were as good as Fowler's.
Bro, compare their USHL numbers, not even close. That’s why Primeau was a 7th round pick and Fowler was a third rounder and projected by many as the best goalie in his draft. They were not considered same level prospects.

Yea, Habs are a good organization that treats their prospects well. I remember when Evans went back for a 4th year of college, everyone was panicking because they felt he would bolt. The Habs were a bad team and everyone thought he would opt to sign elsewhere. He ended up signing with Habs, and he said he was always going to sign with MTL because they 1) took a chance on him by drafting him and 2) they were in constant communication with him. So he felt like he mattered even if he was their final pick of that draft.
Love it.
Nobody can tell me our organization isn't getting plenty of notice with our forward thinking and electric environment.
Those post games Anderson and Suzuki got get lot's of air play aound the league.
It almost offsets the high taxes... :skeptic:

And yet they seem to be exactly the same. It just sounds like some bureaucrat classification. Unfortunate, would have pretty cool if NCAA players could do ATOs and still pursue their studies afterwards.

It is essentially the same thing. One contract is for professional players - often ECHL players than an AHL team wants to take a look at or an AHLer coming off a major injury.

The other, is for in-coming Junior or NCAA players.

Fowler is “their guy”, Primeau is not. Not that difficult to predict what will happen here (Fowler will get a couple of games now and if he plays well . . .). The priority is to get Fowler NHL ready ASAP.

No chance Fowler is the starting goalie for the playoffs. In the playoffs, winning becomes more important than prospect development. The best goalie in the ahl gives a much better chance of winning than the goalie with 0 pro games.

Then I'm confused at why it's called an ATO vs a PTO, but whatever...

Because they aren't burning a year of his contract by having him play professionally in 2024-25.

He plays in Laval, as an amateur, and then next season, when his ELC begins, he's officially a professional.

I could be wrong, but a PTO is for someone who has either played pro hockey, like the ECHL for example. They also give these to training camp invites. An ATO is for someone coming in before their pro contract officially kicks in the following year, usually the case with players coming out of college.

Now, Mark Estapa and Will Dineen also came out of college and were signed to a PTO and not an ATO. My guess why they got a PTO is because they completed their 4 years of NCAA and thus they're either turning pro or not. now Whereas Fowler officially turns pro next year.

It's the way I always saw it. But I could be off.

And he did it an year younger. Might be perfect duo in Laval, maybe Cayden can be a sort of mentor of what went wrong for him.

I firmly believe Primeau will be an NHLer one day but likely not with Montreal.

Suzuki, Hutson, Demidov, Caufield, Slafkovsky, Guhle, Fowler, and hopefully Reinbacher. Turning out to have a hell of a young core

Two things:

1) we should give MB some credit because Suzuki, Caufield, and Guhle are his regime's moves.

2) Suzuki went 13th, Caufield went 15th, Guhle went 16th. And they are examples that you can still pick key pieces in that range. You even look at other teams, Jarvis went 13th to CAR. Holloway went 14th to EDM, but he's got 63 pts in 77 GP in STL. McAvoy went 14th to BOS. Connor went 17th to WPG.

If you draft well, you will find these types of key pieces for your franchise.

So Price 2008 situation?

They gave him the net all playoffs despite Halak .932 season.

I hope they give him the same shot. Who cares about Primeau. If Fowler do a 2008 Price, he might split the net with Monty next year. To be followed!

To be fair, MB got Suzuki through dumb luck, he didn’t even want him

I know. Pretty ridiculous to think they’d hand the reigns to Fowler this year. Primeau is like, 19-2! And not all of those were easy wins either.
