Because that's the best passing spot on the whole PP and if there''s an open man, Marner's the best bet to find him? The issue is that no one else seems to be interested in shooting the damned puck...

At this point, it wouldn't matter where they put Marner, because that's not the problem. The problem is the PP has, at last count, three guys who are supposed to be good shooters on it, and none of them bother to shoot.
