What team doesnt have better options for their PP?

I think there are a handful of teams he'd be a better option for the 2nd unit and I think he's better than anyone MTL has for their top unit (possibly a couple other teams too).

The question is.... is his 5 on 5 game good enough right now that you can afford to have him on your team so you can get that PP ability.

Tough to say. Looked decent 5v5 last year. Having a rough start this year, but still has good potential to develop further

Oh, I like him and believe in him, but I think when it comes to trade value, I think that's the question that teams would be asking themselves before making an offer. Thought he looked great in the preseason (for whatever that is worth).

NYR cant help with finding Rathbone a new home,
he has nothing on Zac Jones, and NYR also have Roberston in LD pipeline, who led WHL d-men in shots and +/- last season

However, could help with acquiring gifted RD, - Lundkvist for Podkolzin perhaps?
Lmao good one. I laughed

There are probably multiple teams that Rathbone would be an upgrade on their #1 pp qb. He is really good in that role. Problem is that his defense is really bad right now.

That being said, he would probably be in the NHL if we didn't have 1 of Hughes or OEL. We just don't benefit much from him with those two in front on him taking up pp time.

I think the Canucks should hold onto Rathbone and see what he can do under the new head coach at the NHL level, he is soon to be coming back from a minor injury.

IF, the Canucks were to trade Rathbone I would call Joe Sakic and see what if he would part with Barron in a deal involving Rathbone

would be a huge mistake to trade him before knowing what we got in Jack. Reminds me of when Benning traded Forsling for a dud. Best to keep him and develop him and see what he can be.
The problem is I don't see how he can develop without getting PP time and a chance at top 4 unless of course there was a big injury to OEL or Hughes. It's not like Van is missing Forsling it just might have been nice to maximize the asset. Which is what I am suggesting here.

And I'm just wondering who would be a similar standing RD that Rathbone could be traded for in a sort of win win trade.

He'd laugh you off the line sorry to say. Girard, Toews, Byram, Murray kinda have that left side on lock

If I had to trade him, it would be for a defensive D man which was RHD.

No thanks to Barron, in the only 2 games I saw he was getting turnstiled regularly. Just another case of an overrated prospect.

What are the Nucks needs and what would Vancouver want in trade for Rathbone?

Is Rathbone currently injured, see the Nucks converted Sautner from an AHL deal to an NHL deal?

Boudreau is excited to play Rathbone and have him in the lineup when he gets back from injury. He’s going to be a stud, Green doesn’t know how to develop defense.
True. I am very excited to see him under Boudreau. The premise of moving a puck moving PP type guy for a shut down RD prospect still makes sense though. Hopefully Bruce there it is can raise his stock in the mean time.

He’s not as solid as he was when he first played pro for us. Maybe exposed? Offensive game is good, defensive game is under construction right now.

Islanders, Flames, Ducks, Kraken, Yotes if they trade Chychrun, Flyers, Canadiens

Also prob 10-15 more teams that could use a 2nd unit guy.
Lol. What am I missing here? You’re saying Montreal would be better served with Rathbone on the top PP than with a guy like Jeff Petry? That’s insanity.

Off the top of my head, NYR is the team that has "too many" RHD with Fox and Trouba proven there, and Lundkvist, Schneider, etc. fighting for spots, but they wouldn't need an offensive dman like Rathbone. As more mobile/offensive defenseman come into the league, it's actually starting to get harder to find top-4 quality physical two-way dmen then it is offensive puck movers. Look at teams like NYR, OTT, VAN, etc. who are trying to find shutdown guys to pair with their offensive ones.

Spot on. We have Zac Jones for an offensive LD as well. Harder to find the Schneiders of the world. Physical shutdown type D who can still contribute offensively.

Isles are using Salo when he’s in on the 2nd unit and he looks pretty dang good for a 23 year old with 7 games of NHL experience to date. Add in the fact that Salo is also 6’1 and strong on his skates. No real need for Rathbone.

Petry has 2 points in 27 games. Who else is there? Wideman, Kulak ? I rest my case
