Dude wtf, that post was made 4 years before you joined the site and neither payed had even played an NHL game yet.

At the time Laf was seen as a better prospect. Are you alright?
Just teasing and more mocking people who do that stuff lol.

Though I never seen it be done to this degree (7 years later) which is why I thought it would be hilarious.

I'm honestly kind of shocked Lafreniere hasn't produced more than he has while getting 18 minutes per night and playing with Panarin pretty much all year. Panarin's a top 5 setup man in the league and moreover he seems like the perfect match with Lafreniere's best attribute. (Getting open around the net for easy tap in's)

I didn't want to start a new thread about Lafreniere so I used the search engine and this was the first thread that popped up.

What's up with Lafreniere? he was highly regarded and hyped on hfboards, he's 23 now, he's been in the league for 5 years, and he's on pace for 48 points...

Today vs Boston for example... he looked disinterested, his skating looked sluggish and slow, and he was either late to the play defensively, or late to the play offensively...

is this his best or can we expect more?

what do Rangers fans think of him thus far?
There’s nothing wrong with him. You’re just box score watching. I guess you mention watching a game yesterday too, but I think to be disappointed in the big picture you’d have to be looking too much into basic stats.

The long story short is that he doesn’t get very much PP time, so he doesn’t have access to many free points (vets with clauses who suck and are now bad on the PP have tenure in those spots). The other reason his scoring is down this year is that his two linemates have taken a real dip with their 5 on 5 scoring (two guys that still get PP1 time), while his rate has remained relatively steady.

In general, I think it’s a bad idea to look into stats of Rangers younger players. They are just going to go with the tide. They can’t single-handedly change a disappointing team. The coaching staff won’t even give them extra TOI and situations. The underperforming vets who refuse to leave are being given the chance to either sink or swim the whole team.

If I had one concern with his play, it’s that his defensive play has plateaued the last two years playing with Panarin. Panarin is worse at it (actively hands the other team basically like .5GPG at this point), but he’s taken on a lot of the same lazy defensive habits from Panarin, and he needs to be separated from the bad influence, which happened yesterday. Hope it sticks.

Have you watched Panarin this year? Serious question.

Dude doesn’t have it. He’s dragging his two linemates down, and I’m glad he was taken off their line.

Lafreniere’s 5 on 5 scoring has been relatively steady this year. It’s Panarin (and Trocheck) who has cratered.
