Alexis is a male first name in french. Just one of those weird english appropriation of a french name/word that turned into a female first name.
Are you sure? I've dealt with a fair share of French, and French-Canadian peoples, and have never encountered this.

I wish his first name was Xavier. Lafreniere is probably the closest name to Laflamme (that I can think of). Being a young phenom...

Someone give him #70!

Hughes is the closest thing we have seen to McDavid. Also, right now he is 5’10 166 pounds, he has plenty of time to put on weight and grow before he steps into the NHL. And fwiw, Crosby was drafted at 5’10 180.

Yeah! Except that McDavid is a center* (replace with Canadian), and played in the OHL, and is a generational talent...

*Misread the first name in the sentence, lol.

Nah he's right, Alexis is a popular boy's name in Quebec. Alot of QMJHL players even are Alexis'. I'm honestly surprised you've never heard of it considering you've dealt with Quebecers

Hughes. Both are very good, but Hughes plays a more dynamic game. Theoretically, there's also the chance to stick at center, although I think its unlikely. Lafreniere doesn't even play center in junior.

Lafreniere is definitely a solid prospect and will most likely go first in his draft year but I don't think he has the same vision as Hughes does. It's not often that players come along that see the ice the way he does. Lafreniere may be more solid in some aspects of his game but I just don't think he has the creative ability that Hughes does.

I saw Hughes a few times in minor midget and he was great, but not McDavid great. Granted, I haven't seen any of Hughes at USNTDP

How so? If we're talking in terms of raw numbers Lafreniere had a better rookie season than McDavid did and they were both the same age when they made their junior debut. Not saying Alexis is gonna be the next McDavid but saying "Hughes is the closest thing we have seen to McDavid" is a bit silly.

Don't even see Hughes as a 1 over all pick.. He's playing like a around 7-10 range! I'd say Lafrenierre
