Player Discussion Jack Eichel Part 6 -- Does he get traded?

Kakko and Sillinger/Lucious is a notably worse package than Eklund and Comtois or Boldy and Addison, so I hope those aren’t the two main pieces in a Rangers deal.

Kakko < Eklund or Boldy,
#10OA < Comtois or Addison

I’d rank it:

boldy
Kakko
Eklund

But it’s close. I think Kakko and Boldy make an impact next year

The worst part about this is even if we get a fantastical return, we likely still lose the trade.

When superstars get traded, you almost never win on assets received alone.

However, you do almost always win by being able to move on from the situation that caused the trade in the first place.

How much do you want to bet the mystery team city doesn't pronounce the letter R?

$0 because (1) HARD no to trading Jack within the division, and (2) Boston has exactly 2 pieces under the age of 30 with any meaningful value, and they're not trading either, so there's absolutely nothing to discuss.

How so if it makes our team better?

Getting two or three good pieces in return to help fill out our awful roster is appealing as hell to me right now.

because even with fantastical returns of young players or futures, there’s a good chance some just don’t pan out as impact players.

look, if Kakko turns into a first line winger, chytil is a top 6 center, and the prospect hits, then we come out good

I think it's even simpler than that.

If every player / pick received for Eichel ends up failing, but the TEAM start to improve by getting the situation behind them and growing what they have, it's gonna be fine.

(I'm not accusing Eichel of being THE problem , but he's at least A problem. )

I've really learn to hate the Rangers during this process.

It's the fans, not the team.

Don't let the fans make you think they know what the Ranger management team thinks. Just like I hope other teams' fans don't think us fans speak for Buffalo management.

I assume the notable exception here was the Lindros to Philly trade?

As great a superstar as Lindros was, the haul that Quebec/Colorado got in return set them up for multiple Cups, and they clearly won the trade. They still would have won that trade even if Lindros didn't have an injury-shortened career.
