The Mrazek deal of 3 x $3.8 mil seems to be the range Dubas will try and start with but what will Campbell demand and ultimately get in TOR?

Just over a 100 career NHL games, decent year in LA (2018-19) and his time in TOR has been fairly elite so far.

He turns 30 this January so he'll be nearing 31 by the time the new deal kicks in.

4yrs x $4.25 mil seem like a fit?
Not really sure where he lands with such a small but very respectable resume at 30yrs old.

EDIT - changing my above prediction to 5yrs x $4.5 to 5 million

What say you?

He has probably been the best goalie in the league (regular season) since arriving in T.O. He was also very good in the one round of playoffs. If he keeps this up hes looking at well over 5mil. I wouldn't be signing anything less than that if I was him.

It is too early to talk about the Vezina, there are too many goalies in the mix.

I could see a team offering 2 years @ 5 million or a little bit more depending on level of competition.

If Toronto wants sub 5 million I would imagine they will need to tack on a bunch of years (5 or 6).

Campbell will be the guy who takes less as the "good guy" on a team full of players who cashed in.

Still will get paid but I think he will sign for less than he could get on the market.

TOR would have to move one of/or both Ritchie and Kerfoot and then make some other key but cheap depth moves or promote more rookies no?

Think they have $7.2 mil in space ($1 mil raise in cap missing from CapFriendly), that's without moving Kerfoot or Ritchie.

Kase may make a case to be re-signed as well, Sandin and Liljegren likely get a slight bump, maybe 200-300k per extra.

If he keeps up this pace and wins the vezina i dont see anything under 6 per year.

He's a $6mil per season goaltender

Campbell's a tough one because he seems like one of those guys that's more concerned with being in a situation he loves rather than cashing in on an extra couple of million elsewhere.

On the flip side, he's 29 (30 by the time the new deal kicks in) and knows this is likely his one big payday to set him and his family up for life. It's not like he's had the benefit of being paid $4+ million per season for the past 10 years, so he can take a smaller deal this time.

If the Leafs and Campbell can find a happy medium, like $5 to $5.5 million over 5 years, he'd probably stick around even if he could get $6 or $7 million on the open market.
