Campbell made some really big saves in near the end of the game to secure that W. He is looking more confident with each passing game, and is reading the play spectacularly. I have a lot of confidence in Jack TBH. I really like the idea of him pushing for #1. It will mean a shorter leash for Freddy when he comes back to full health. And I really think this will bring the best out of Freddy as well. He will be given as much time as he needs to get healthy, and he knows that when he comes back, he will have to be able to match what soup is doing. I know the popular thought on here is that Freddy is garbage. Which has been true for this year. But the fact of the matter is, Freddy is still a good goalie. I feel comfortable with a Jack and Freddy tandem going into the playoffs. Provided that they are both fully healthy. Something that has not been the case at any point this year. Kudos to Jack, this guy is a complete gamer and has the best mindset of any leaf goalie. I'd actually feel bad for him if he played like shit and cost us a game. You can tell this guy wants to win so bad, and he totally understands that is the expectation from the fanbase. I cant think of one bad thing to say about this guy lol. I don't even know him but he just seems like the nicest guy in the world lol

Would be pretty funny if we see a team finish the season having 3 goalies with more wins than the Buffalo Sabres, who currently have 8. Think the Yotes, Hurricanes or Leafs could possibly do it.

Leafs have two goalies ahead of the Sabres (8) right now, Andersen (13) & Campbell (9); maybe Hutch (4) gets enough starts & wins down the stretch to finish with more than the Sabres as well.

Even his bad games are pretty good.
He's got a no quit mentality. He let's in bad goals but will always be there to make the big saves in the 3rd period to give his team a chance to win.

Freddy let's in bad goals and he can never seem to stop the bleeding.

Even his bad games are pretty good.

Yesterday he didn't seem as poised as usual in the crease and he let in that one softie, but I was still much more confident with him between the pipes in crunch time than I would have been with Freddy.

From where I sit, Jack isn't pushing for #1, he is the #1.

I feel comfortable with them as well, provided that they are both healthy. But are they? That's the zillion dollar question!

It’s so funny how people are totally biased about players about based on who acquired them.

Half the people hate Campbell because they can’t admit dubas did anything right

Soup's a good guy and fine as a b/u but he's not starter .

If I am coaching this team he is my starter. He has earned it and this team is laser focused when he is in. They play like a hungry, no quit bunch from top to bottom.

Truth be told, the best situation for Andersen in his hope of a good off-season contract would be for him to be on LTIR for the rest of the year.

He.and his agent can sell to any team that he had a slight down year due to nagging injuries. GMs will take a chance on Freddie being the old Freddie if this is his claim.

If Freddie comes back and loses again in the playoffs, for a team that is dominant in his absence: he will be lucky to get a backup role for min. salary. Dubas will be released.

This is pro sports, this Leafs team will not be the same next year. This is a one shot with this group. A group that is very confident with Campbell. Why pretend that we aren't seeing what we are seeing?

I don't dislike Freddie, I was one of his biggest backers. Thus, my recommendation would be to get 100% and let it be known he has not been himself all year. He will get paid next year if this is the case.

Leafs then pick up a reasonably priced back-up for Campbell. Even if a rental. They are then set in case of injury.

i don't get married to the players , they can trade Andy before the deadline or let him walk at the end of the season for all i care . My concern is that Campbell isn't a starter regardless how people are spinning it and we need to find one .

giving Soup a pass on the goals he lets in just because people don't like Andy doesn't make him a starter , the short side goal and doing the backstroke on the 2 on 1 goal would have gotten Andy crucified but since it was Soupy pretend they never happened , lol

Campbell is 9-0-0 and has a 94.4 sv%. Even you should be able to figure out why fans aren't crucifying him for a couple of goals against

You don't know that he is not a starter. Too small of a sample size. He looks fantastic so far this season, so give him a full season as the starter and then we see if he is our starter or if we need a new goalie. But he deserves the chance to proof his worth.

Starters gotta start sometime, 9 - 0 is a good start. :dunno:

He is at least a platoon goalie. So, find him a platoon mate. A reasonably priced starter, rental or not; who will be backup/platoon unless Campbell gets injured or falls off the map. That would be my advice if I were speaking to Dubas.

If you can trade Andersen, all the better. I don't know how the market is shaping up. A team might be willing to trade a rental goalie and take Freddies low salary hit (as it was front loaded), for a 2nd or 3rd rounder. It would open up cap space and address their needs.

A platoon mate, a strong forechecking, Gamer forward or two, and, a depth D man. Dubas gets that, and this team is primed for a shot at the Cup.

Campbell has played well but the Leafs have played pretty solid hockey since freddy last game

They were playing soilid when Fred was around as well....
The month of March Fred's record
1ga ...27shots ... .963
4ga... 31 shots ...871
4ga ..23 shots.... .826
3ga... 27 shots ....889
5ga... 32 shots ....844
2ga... 28 shots ....929
4ga ..18 shots ....778

So out of 7 games he had 2 good ones. Team allowed 26.5 shots on net average for the 7 games and got 2 wins out of it.

Yep. Every goalie will let in weak goals. The issue becomes can they stop the majority of the shots against at an acceptable rate - something that Andersen has struggled with this season and Campbell has excelled

Letting jn a couple goals on 33 shots against is a different situation from letting in a couple facing less than 20 shots against.

The idea that Campbell hasn't played like a starting level goalie this season is just headscratching
