Walsh didn't say anything earlier in the year when Drouin was pushed down the lineup early.

He knows that shit's not gonna fly with the Avs. It'll backfire.

Ivan pots his first today, but what I love about it is that when Colton went down, he promoted Ivan to that top line and PP. Bednar doesn't make that choice randomly, he does it as a reward for guys who are playing the way he likes. That's high praise for an undrafted rookie with less than 10 games experience. He could have easily gone with a veteran like Wood up in that spot, but he rewarded the kid and it paid off.

Hard to imagine Bednar sending Ivan down if/when everyone is healthy. He might be here to stay.

He should 100% be given a run at 3C. Kelly looks horrible there. Ivan could easily provide more there at the moment.

Congrats Ivan on your first NHL goal. There will be many more. I have no doubt.

I hope he will be given a chance with better wingers than he has had on the 4th line. I think he has underrated office in him. IMO he has 3C upside in a year or two.

Yup, the maturity and mindset to play so well as soon as he got put on pp1 is amazing. Definitely a high IQ player who can take on 3C responsibilities, and a lot of fans noticed it here as far back as last year's rookie games.

Agree. I have been a fan of his since then.

I think we should all be very happy with what Ivan has done here and seizing on the opportunity. IMO the biggest question isn't today, it is 40-50 games from now. High motor players with lacking plus skills need to keep that motor through the wear and tear of the season. After they get pummeled a few times and avoiding complacency and fatigue. Last season, Ivan wasn't complacent (IMO anyway), but the season length and physicality got to him. There were times he was healthy scratched down the stretch last year, and at this level he can't afford that. If he keeps up the effort and energy, he'll find a way into Bednar's heart for good. If it falls off, he'll be sent back down quickly.
