And still missing our #1 guy (Juolevi) and one potential player there (Vaakanainen).

EDIT: Is Laakso injured or have Isokangas and Halonen surpassed him? Last year Laakso was the clear-cut #1 goalie

No he is healthy but Isokangas seems to be the #1 guy now.

Haven't seen Halonen so don't really know if he is better than Laakso or not.

As long as Ivanyuzhenkov family tree is growing and productive - we are all set.
heck knows, provorov doesn't seem like a corrupt and
incompetent bum that rumyantsev is. maybe our heir deserved to be on the team. but that looks like a grim diagnose to whole system.

The Draft Analyst Roster Preview: Team Canada

Here is a detailed player-by-player roster preview for Team Canada's U18 squad at the upcoming Hlinka tournament. All but one player (Nolan Patrick) are 2016 eligible. Team Canada clubbed Slovakia 12-1 in the exhibition today. Looked like Poirier didn't dress but I haven't confirmed it yet. The lines according to a Slovak website were (in no order):

Bitten-Jost-Dube
Dubois-Steel-Howden
Kyrou-Patrick-Benson
Malenstyn-McLeod,-Kaspick

Wow 2:1 for Czechs. I though after strong 1997 generation we will be weak again. Win over USA is great succes.

Just one question. Stransky is too old for U18 championship? He is eligible for next draft, so I don't understand why is he playing in U19 team.

USA doesn't send their best team to the Hlinka though.

Yeah. 9 days too old

'98 ain't that bad even though '96 and '97 were definitely better and I am still pretty skeptical about the tourney this year.

Stransky is late '97, that's why he's eligible for 2016 draft while not being able to play for U18 anymore.

Thx for info. Do you know anything about Hajek? I still don't know where he will play next year. Brno's roster is full of quality defenders, so I hope he will go to CHL. Lot of czech defenders was also drafted to CHL. Will they stay in czech republic?

Sorry, I don't have any confirmed infos about this. But personally, I'm pretty sure Hajek will go over as well as Budik and Vala. Players drafted in CHL draft that high almost always come over. Even though I would like to see at least one of Budik or Vala in Extraliga. They might be playing solid minutes in Pardubice.

'98 is finally pretty solid year for defensemen for us, unfortunately there are not many good forwards this year unlike past few years.

12-1 win v Slovakia. Ouch. And I don't consider this particular age group (1998) to be a good one for Canada. Either I got it incredibly wrong (which would make me happy) or the Slovak 1998 group is not particularly good and/or had an especially poor/off-night performance.

ah, summer hockey. as unpredictable as it gets.

Good defense on the Finnish team. When Almari and Felixson are reserve players, you know its good.

Very good puck carriers too in Jokiharju, Reunanen, Salo and Välimäki.
It's good that we are finally starting to get big d men. :yo:
