Player Discussion Ivan Demidov: Welcome to Montreal

Everything would have to go perfect to hit that level of production from everyone.. and we’d need a damn good second line C.
Might want to lower your expectations for Demidov / Slafkovsky imo
Yea, a little too optimistic. 🤣

Suzuki 85 pts
Demidov 70 pts
Caufield 70 pts
Hutson 65 pts
Slafkovsky 60 pts

^ Sounds more realistic to me. And that's without injuries or down years.

I like the fact you can use that emoji I pray to god one day I can too :(

Maybe the site will f*** itself to death and go down for 3 days again, that's how I got mine back.

Yes they’re so upset that they released him from his contract early and made social media posts wishing him well and the head coach praised him and his NHL future

Please think critically
I can tell you that within his first week in NA, there was criticism from one or two big names of Russian hockey on how SKA handled his situation, and how they could have made a better effort to keep him longer. It was not an official memo from the KHL.

I've been looking for it now, but I need to translate articles so it's not easy. I was reading everything Demidov related online at that time. Ex post facto, it looks almost exclusively positive reporting. If you don't believe me, that this was said, I will continue looking until I find it.

He’s got a lot to work on. He isn’t the NHL ready instant superstar some here were expecting.

To me, his play in the games we saw was a mixed bag. We saw flashes of his insane talent level, and even some tangible results, but he’s extremely green, made a lot of mistakes, and was very clearly struggling with the pace of the NHL game - that was especially evident at 5 on 5.

That’s all completely understandable for a young prospect his age, but maybe not to some who thought he was going to be a superstar right off the bat.

He did improve as the series went on, which is very encouraging, and he seems to have a great attitude and passion for the game.

The most glaring thing I noticed, however, was his lack of hustle and urgency in his game, not just on things like back checking, but overall as well. This, combined with the fact that he doesn’t have blazing speed is going to be a problem if he doesn’t correct it and learn to crank up his pace and intensity.

He tried way to much to slow the game down, and got neutralized/stripped often as a result, and I didn’t see him make any adjustments on the fly on that front.

Like I said though, he seems to have a great attitude and passion for the game, so I’m hopeful that these are things he will work on and improve quickly.

Not a big fan of predictions as far as points, but if he can match what Michkov did this year, I’d call that a huge success and I’d be very happy. Michkov seemed to have a lot of the same issues this season. Any less than that, and it’s a disappointment, considering the talent and hype.

I don’t disbelieve that you read this article, I am telling you there’s no truth to it. You can trust me on this.

Taking a break from trying to trade Slaf for Mctavish or Cozens to come criticize Demidov's effort level?

Did you know there was a terms of service here we are supposed to read and acknowledge???

Did you know Bots are treated better on the ethernet than humans are?

A bot will never need to acknowledge anything for as long as he's checking all the right boxes.

Makes you wonder of our position as a race in this digital world

Not enough games to judge any of this, imo. Especially considering he was not in a position to shine often until the last two games.

Plus, this was playoffs hockey against one of the best teams in the league. He'll have an easier time acclimating during the regular season next year.

With that said, he did seem to play a bit different from when I watched him in the KHL. Less confident, maybe? I dunno.

That’s why I said: “To me, his play in the games we saw…”, meaning it’s my opinion, based only on those games. I didn’t make any predictions about what this means for the future, other than that he needs to work on this stuff, which is completely fair because it’s quite clear that he does.

I like bots :(

Does anyone have a clip of when Demidov was chasing the puck down before it went into the empty net and I think he started looking around and almost blew his chance to keep the puck from going in. It was weird and I don't know what happened there and want to see it again.

My initial reaction on that play was I thought he knew exactly how much time he had to assess the situation and retrieve the puck...

Demidov didn't crush it on the score sheet in these playoffs but alot of players whiffed on perfectly delivered passes in very dangerous areas coming from the dude... Can't wait till he builds chemistry with the rest of the team.

Hutson has 60 pts in his last 66 games (season+playoffs). He'll quite probably do more than 65pts next season, since he won't wait 22 games before getting PP1 time, and while he might get a sophomore slump, i find it more probable that he'll improve. It's actually funny and shows a certain bias when you have Slaf getting almost 10 more points, yet have Hutson stagnate.
