Player Discussion Ivan Demidov: Welcome to Montreal

Suzuki and Cole can play with him

It will be easier to find a 2x top 6 forwards who could play with Slaf.

Donato should be an easy target, 29 years old, scored 62 pts with 16 mins of ice time, perfect 2nd liner, only 14 pts on the PP, excellent 5vs5 player.
Donato career production is around 30 pts/season. This is not a career year wich gonna change the perception about the player imo. He is a middle 6. That you prefer ln a 3rd line imo. I think we need a real top 6 ( Duchene/ Horvat) and cie

Donato works hard, the 62 pts he scored were no fluke. Saying he's a 30 pts /season player is so clueless. People develop and are given opportunities at times and he took the opportunity.

At 5vs5 he's 42nd in Pts per 60 mins amongst the players with 800 minutes+.

6', 190 lb
13:45 mins on 5v5
48 pts
30 goal scorer
Experienced veteran
Honest and hard working

He should be a top priority second to Crosby only,

Not because of the talent but because he's undervalued and how hard it is to bring players here in general.

Career year I imagine. Very rarely at 29 do they flip like that and sustain it

19 playoff games and 2 points. No thanks. Plus you like him which is a huge red flag.

I think he is going to be something magical man. I can't wait to see what he brings. I think he is the favourite by a large margin to win the Calder.

But.........

We should expect a slow start to the season a la Cole Caufield when he arrived.

If we expect that.....we won't be disappointed if it happens and we will be ultra excited if he starts crazy.

Hope he stays healthy the entire year.

Poor guy looked so lost and overwhelmed being thrown into the playoffs. No 82 games to learn the ‘system’ which consists of a drop pass and failed dump and chase on most nights. At least he won’t be playing ‘the best teams’ every night next year and can develop properly. Hope he isn’t saddled with stupid Newhook or Laine

Yeah surely his shooting percentage will remain at 17 rather than regressing to his career average of 11

Really good that he got to see playoff hockey. It must have been a little humbling. I bet he’s going to work very hard to be better this summer after getting taste of hockey at its highest level.

Considering I was already resigned to waiting to see him in September

To know he's already played 5 hard fought NHL playoff games already at 19 is just.. *chefs kiss*
So ahead of schedule

Full credit to MSL playing him on PP1 and late game situations already

There's just no way he doesn't win Rookie of the year next year lol

LFG baby

I don't know but that handshake line was almost too friendly. It felt like we're the new Leafs. We are good at the handshake line.
We need more toxicity throughout the series. Next time we make playoffs I want someone to take on the spirit of Dale Weise & pound their chest everytime they score. Piss the other team off so we can have a more eventful handshake line ala 2014 vs bruins

Yeah I can't wait to see what he can do next season.

It's huge that he was able to come over this season and already meet the guys and play in a playoff series with them. Train together in the offseason and hit the ground running next season.

No. Calder next year otherwise he's a bust. PPG player.

Suzuki 90pts
Hutson 80 pts
Demidov 80 pts
Slafkovsky 70 pts
Caufield 70 pts
Everything would have to go perfect to hit that level of production from everyone.. and we’d need a damn good second line C.
Might want to lower your expectations for Demidov / Slafkovsky imo

Anyone have any intel on if he's staying in NA this summer?

I'd guess he's going back to Russia, but would love for him to stay and get better at English/train with teammates.
I would love him to stay this summer. Situation is still unstable over there. KHL is upset he left so easily. Fly him back everything he needs. After one full season under his belt in NA, i would be fine for him to go back. I'm icky now,
