Who can they give him though? The other lines actually have chemistry. Newhook hasn’t had chemistry with anyone ever since he entered the NHL. Unfortunately Demidov is going to have to suffer until next season, and it’s going to be frustrating as hell for us fans.
I don’t see them switching up the first line, especially after the game Slafkovsky just had.
Duchene will look great with him in 6 months

I feel he should play with Dvorak and Gally or Anderson. That line isn't playing well anymore lately and those guys battle for the puck better than Laine.Who can they give him though? Played well. Every time he has the puck, something magical might happen. Just like Lane Hutson. He’s creative and fun to watch!
Matheson did the same thing last year to Slaf on the PP, it was infuriating.

I know people keep screaming to bring him to the first line but that's a bad idea. The first line is a pretty good one and we've needed secondary scoring all year long. Demidov provides a real threat when the top line isn't out there. It's badly needed and as much as I hate seeing some of his chances wasted it's the way it's gotta be.

Ivan only played 10 minutes tonight. Very smart by MSL, imo. Could you imagine if Demidov made a crucial mistake in a game like this and the Habs lost? At home, at the Bell Centre, with the post-season on the line, in his 2nd game? It would be absolutely brutal and devastating for the kid, and it’s all he’d hear about all summer. You have to protect him from something like that with so many eyes and so much hype on him. Marty did just that.
Now that we’re in, it’s different. The narrative switches to we over achieved and are just a young team happy to be playing, and all the young guys, including Demidov, will be insulated by that. The young guys will get their reps in and mistakes will happen - no big deal, we made it, and are building something. I expect him to get more time and get his reps in. It’s gonna be fun.
He had some good chances tonight too, despite the limited minutes. Did good.

Agree.
The kid will lead this team for many many many years starting next season and even these playoffs. Him playing a little less in his 2nd NHL game won't change that.

i do get the sense MSL is not just coaching for himself and his own career, but as part of the larger MSL-Hughes-Gorton leadership group.

If he plays 10:00, you know they probably had the lead. I’ll take that.
Could see some signs of chemistry with Laine … but, both not the best defensive players so easy to bench them both when leading and slide Newhook to the wing with Evans or Dvo.
