that's been my main complaint since 94, our core is small! Slaf is the only one over 200lbs, we need Beck, Florian , Tuch to make the team and add some jam.

Suzuki is a tank at 5'11 and just over 200 lbs.

Agreed. Caufiield can take his place on the PP. not a huge downgrade, especially since we can put Demidov where Caufield is now. Then, we replace Laine with someone who can play 5v5.

I don't think it's a downgrade at all. Laine is better at making that shot than Caufield but not by some gigantic amount outside of that initial hot streak. Caufield is so much better than Laine at everything else, especially being the relief pass on the entry and keeping the play going with passing. I would keep Slaf in front of the net and put Demidov in the corner.

While Laine being on PP2 kind of kills his purpose on the team a bit; he likely was never going to be here after next season anyways so who cares. Caufield is the guy who will be playing there for the next 8 years and Demidov will be on the right half-wall so we may as well just do it now.

It's crazy. Every time i criticize Newhook i feel bad cause the kid is trying. Can't blame him for not working and trygin that's for sure. But man the amount of chances he missed last game given to him on a gold plate by Demidov was crazy. The most baffling one was in OT when Demidov was all alone and Newhook had like an entire life time to pass him the puck for a breakaway and he could not pull it off. I was literally screming to my TV "my grandma would have done it *&/&*?&"/*(".

Newhook has been effort all season long, but in skating to nowhere kind of effort. He's been inefficient.
He's been looking less inefficient without Dach, but he whiffed on so many chances in the Hawks game that the problem haven't just been the linemates.

I've been lurking all season long, did not comment on anything as I wanted to wait until I could see him play with my own eyes before doing so.

I've been an NHL (and Habs) fan for 25 of my 33 years on this Earth, and I know it pales in comparison to some of the other posters here, but I don't think I've ever been that convinced EVER that a player would be a superstar as much as I'm convinced that Demidov will.

Very few players have made that impression on me in their first game. It was absolutely glaring that Demidov was the most skilled player for both teams on Tuesday and I'm definitely optimistic for the future of this team for the first time in my life.

I'm convinced he's going to be a multiple 100+ pts seasons kind of player if everything goes right.

His acceleration is also lacking, both aspects will improve as he gains strength.

It’s Newhook that is dangerous for his development. Guy can’t hit the net, can’t pass, couldn’t win a faceoff. He had to sit that line a good chunk of the third because of it. MSL will be great for his development next season, once we have another actual top 6 C to play him with.
I’m 100% confident the organization will do whatever necessary to make sure Newhook never sees the second line C position again.

He’s only 19. Wouldn’t worry about it. His hockey iq and skills are off the charts.

As long as it is accurate and deceptive, not being as heavy shouldn't be too much of a problem, but based on Edge, it's slightly above league average and that might not have been his heaviest one.

Demidov needed to be on the first line today and first pp.

St.Louis is not a coach he’s a motivational speaker. Demidov does not neet motivation, he needs a coach and to play 20 mins.
