Player Discussion Ivan Demidov: Welcome to Montreal

My only gripe with Demidov is how he wears his helmet. Looks like puljujarvi. I don't like that.
yeah he seems to do this to avoid the shield. I think he may open himself up to injuries this way. whats the point of having visor rules if players can do this. either take out the rule or enforce it.

Yes. I think even faster than his wheels is the speed his mind processes the game. MHL, KHL or NHL doesn’t make a difference. It’s the same thing for him. He’s just playing another hockey game.
Stick handling is something else too. Best since Kovalev! My wife was watching the game for the first time in years and that's the first thing she said too. Can dangle in a phone booth. Sucks we didnt had the chance to saw him in SO.

I know he is a noob and all, but there is no way I don't put him in the shootout. The guy has been touted for being highly skilled and this was a really important game. It's a shootout. He doesn't have any defensive responsibility. No need to backcheck. He just has to score.

I take him over Laine anyday in that situation.

This guy looks STUPID good.

You can tell by way he can make moves effortlessly it's on-par with legit first overall talents like Kane/Matthews etc.
The best part of his first NHL game? There some confusion when we entered the Hawk's zone, before his assist to Newhook. He took control after a picosecond of hesitation and created the play. Chew slowly... its the good stuff!

Saw the highlights from last night and really pissed I missed the game. Demidov looked better on the pass than that sick goal. They said he had some big hits...I would say he finished a check, which is still good. Nice to see him do so well. Hope he continues at a reasonable rate. Lowered expectations will help to temper people when he does eventually slump.

Sure is nice to have some star power on the habs for the first time in a long time. I guess drafting isn't at all like throwing darts at the board, I think some clown on the habs said something like that, bozzobin or something.

That dummy in the slot was a thing of beauty.

And I mean Demidov's dummy, not Newhook. Though maybe he's Demidov's dummy too
Demidov’s ability to cut on a dime, change directions sharply without losing control of the puck is most impressive. He was shedding his checkers with ease and created time and space to use his great vision. It was fantastic to watch his interplay with Hutson. Those two will be a menace to opposing team for the next decade.

Their combined magic might not be enough to carry us to the playoffs this year. But the future has never been brighter.

Looks a lot like Hutson.
