Player Discussion Ivan Demidov: Welcome to Montreal

Same, but the poster said we would have too much money on wingers if we have added Michkov. I’m saying who cares, make a deal. Michkov gonna be way better than Caufield. Anyway, it’s done, we can’t go in the past. Let’s hope Reino becomes at least a 3-4dman who’s not gonna miss lots of games
caufield is better than michkov

Again, you always draft for the best talent not the position. You make trades to fix that later.
I'm not a fan of this strategy. Trades aren't great as you rarely get back equivalent value. It's not a simple as - 'well let's just go trade this core player...'

We could go all day long but it was a big mistake. Michkov is the best pick right now and he’s gonna be the best pick again at the end when they retire.
That's fine. Reinbacher's going to help win us cups. Cups we wouldn't have won without him.

Book it.

Cups, nothing less, lmfao.

Love your optimist, let’s hope so (still was a bad pick).

It's not a bad pick if you wind up winning cups with him. At the end of the day, you're going to need a big, solid RD. They're really hard to trade for and if you can draft one, you take it.

It's not as simple as - this guy gets more points so he's better - espectially when we have Demidov, Caufield, Slaf, Laine...

Lots of speculation on ur side. I tend to look at facts and facts says Michkov is the best pick. It’s like all those teams passing on Demidov. Pretty sure Clbs fans are pissed, even if center was a need for them.

Anyway, back to Demidov, he’s gonna be a star.

I hope he keeps #93. I think it looks great on him.

How do you know what we could get for Caufield and how do you assume Reino is a sure thing top defenseman? You just draft the best player, who cares where they play. Anyway I don’t want to start an other debate on that in the Demidov thread.

I know that top pairing RD don't get traded for small scoring wingers.

How do you know Michkov is a surefire star? This could literally be his ceiling.

You draft the best player but the reason why every list is different is because the best player is usually a subjective thing. Scarcity of the player and team building absolutely come into account at the top of a draft.

What I see when looking at Demidov is a special offensive talent. The play that impressed me the most was that touch/no touch through his legs pass. The last player I seen do this was Mario Lemieux in the Olympics.

Don't want to anoint his as the next offensive superstar in the NHL yet, but I think he has that kind of talent.

Montreal "MAY HAVE" finally gotten their Generational Superstar Forward. Last one was Lafleur. Let's see if he can realize this trajectory

Facts? It's a fact that Kopitar scored more goals than Carey Price. But Carey Price was the right pick.

Yep. And he makes Michkov redundant.

How do you know Reino is a top pairing? At least Michkov is producing a lot in the NHL as a rookie. His celling already? Lmfao you guys are creative.

How do we know Demidov will be a first liner? He's played one game.
Creative again bro, gotta give it to you! Can’t wait for thoses cupS!
There's no reason for skepticsm here.

As for the cups, you won't be waiting long. We're going to be contenders in a few years. RB and Hutson will be one of (of not the) best pairing in the league.

We are supposed to think Reinbacher is a top pairing minute munching RD and we won't regret passing Michkov all while saying that Chicago is stupid for passing on Demidov for a top pairing minute munching RD ;)

We don't. But the team looks really good going forward.

My cups comment is tongue in cheek. But it's silly on the one hand to say that Demidov will be a first line winger and then turn around and say we can't know anything about Reinbacher...

It's one or the other. Either you can know something from a player's minor league career or you can't.
