Value of: Ivan Demidov vs 2025 1oa

This topic feels like a Habs fantasy in text format

Might as well plan the parade and pre-retire his number. Haven’t seen this level of confidence from Habs fans since they added Patrik Laine.
To be fair, he was rated the best prospect in hockey not in the NHL. We have reason to be excited.

The thing is Demidov is a winger. Schaefer is projected as a player similar to Dahlin or Heiskanen. How many wingers in the league provide more value than those 2? If we are talking about someone like Pasta or Kucherov than for sure, but if he's more like Clayton Keller or Jake Guentzel then probably not. If he becomes Nylander than it's probably a toss up.

Misa and Hagens are centers who naturally carry more value than wingers so. Misa is viewed by some scouts as a generational talent who could be similar to Barkov or Eichel, and Hagens is compared to Jack Hughes.
Nobody sees Misa as Eichel or Hagens as Hughes.

Eichel's hype was out of this world at the time... People tend to forget because of McDavid, but what Eichel was doing as a freshman in BU in his D-1 was incredible.

I think Shaeffer will be very good, but there is a very possible world where Demidov becomes a Panarin/Kaprisov level of player. To me it's a toss-up between the 2.

Michkov had better PPG than Demidov and played for a team that scored half goals Demidov's SKA did, though...
Michkov couldn’t even crack SKA line-up?

I see the point and I agree but who knows if or when he would have come over. It was well reported that he wanted to be in Philly.
Kinda weird if he really did. Who wants to play for a team that will be deprived of offensive talent for at least the next 3-5 years.

I would have taken Leonard
1000%

Slaf Suzuki Caufield
Demidov X Leonard

I drool just thinking about how fun this would have been, I'm team Leonard >>>>>Michkov especially from a Habs POV

Matter fact

If I was the one drafting our top 6 next year would have been

Demidov Suzuki Caufield
Leonard Cooley X

You compare Misa to Barkov when Misa isn't out of the OHL yet but if someone compares Demidov to Kaprizov after he's lit up the KHL and set records it's blasphemy and heresy? Weird double standards bro.
I never called it blasphemy. I was asking pretty genuinely.

I literally gave examples of wingers at different skills levels when I talked about Schaefer. If Demidov is going to be a top 5 winger in the league then yes there is absolutely an argument he is worth more than a 1C or 1D in the top 10-15 range. If he's going to be a top ~20 winger in the league (is Keller) then no there is no debate. If he's going to be a top ~10 like Nylander than it's a toss up.

Im not saying Misa will be as good as Barkov but that's who he's compared to when it comes to stylistics and potential. A 2-way dominant 1C. It's similar to how Suzuki was compared to Bergeron, but the odds of him being as good as Bergeron at this point are quite unlikely. I think it's fairly reasonable to say Misa could become a player of similar caliber to Sebastian Aho, but could absolutely end up better than that.

I apologize i misinterpreted your comment.

I think what sets Demidov apart is he just had a stellar season in the KHL beating Kaprizov's record and finishing the year with the highest ppg in the league.

He just did what you HOPE the very best prospects in this draft will do next year. He is what Misa will be if EVERYTHING GOES RIGHT for him. To me, that easily beats any positional advantage one may have. Nobody in this draft class has anywhere near Demidov's real odds at NHL success at this very moment and that's worth a lot to me.

Maybe, Demidov played on a very strong SKA team. If we want to project Demidov like that we must also be projecting Nikishin to be at least as good as Quinn Hughes right?

I have no doubt Demidov will be a good NHLer but you should probably reign in your expectations a bit. Maybe he will become a 100+ point player but don't just assume it will happen. It's not like Kaprizov stopped growing as a player after coming to North America, no he continued to improve and become the dominant player he is now. Demidov still has a long way to go to reach Kaprizov's current level of play

The only prospect in the league I'd entertain trading Demidov for would be for Celebrini

That is it, no one else
