That's fine...I happen to know otherwise and things we've seen happen after just confirm what I know for a fact.

The issues are far greater than you'd ever suspect. Not saying it was his fault, but this kid definitely put the mask on/off when he was a hockey player and when he wasn't.

Players aren't angels, they all have vices...some, rather most, manage it better than others.

Nobody is saying he was a saint. It’s well known that other things were going on.

But this idea that he's somehow responsible for Galchenyuk's off ice issues is pushing it. They could have played him at center ever single game, he would have flamed out regardless. He wasn't dedicated to hockey off the ice like most professional athletes are, not even remotely close.

Anyone who got fooled by those off season training videos of him training in the sand in South Beach or whatever, he wasn't just there for the training lol.

I'd never put that on a singular entity, but it's well documented that Bergevin didn't care to manage that part of things and brought bad influences into a situation where it made things worse.

No that's the stupidest idea I've ever heard.

Just keep good people in the room. Identify the right people to bring in to your organization. Move any negative influences out. Ensure that there's proper infrastructure of coaches, psychologists and other facilities etc. that are available to players to ensure they stay on the right path.

I would think all the young players living together is probably going to inspire more bad things to happen vs. setting them up to live with a veteran or have family with them/nearby until they can handle living on their own.

I hate the way we handled him. And there’s no excuse for the roster mgmt. That’s entirely on Montreal. There’s no justification for playing DD ahead of him. Chuck was better in every way.

But Montreal isn’t to blame for his extracurricular activities. That’s all on Chuck. I just think we could’ve helped him more than we did.

Fortunately, MSL has a completely different philosophy. He understands skill and how to develop it. We’re finally out of that mentality of having to ‘grind’ regardless of skill set. And Demodov will be better for it.

St. Petersburg is flat out gorgeous and amazing. Orlov isn't wrong.

But for Demidov, the fame and adulation he'll get in Montreal will engulf anything he's experienced in St. Pete. It's not remotely close.

It's not a contest between cities. It's if can Demidov handle the traps of being a mega-celebrity. But he appears to have a good head on his shoulders. He'll be fine.

The organization at the time talked a lot about character but they messed that pick up almost entirely on misjudging the player’s character.

I don’t see that happening with Demidov.

Trust me WTK...going to the gym every day does not mean you're not a goof off the ice too. He had issues way before the Montreal Canadiens even drafted him, Kassian didn't poison him.

There are far greater things that were troubling the young man.

Professional teams have a job to do by insulating their young players and trying to shelter/mentor them, but they're also paid professional athletes, they have a personal responsibility.

Some understand that better than others.

Had a penchant for that before he ever got to Montreal.

He seems to have a head on his shoulders...Galchenyuk did not.

I also know that Galchenyuk was into some... It was very very well known in certain communities. Hockey seemed to be a distant second for him in many ways unfortunately.

Quite frankly just from seeing the type of kid Demidov appears to be he couldn't be any more different than Galchenyuk, who was a massive idiot. Thank god for that.
