That's fine...I happen to know otherwise and things we've seen happen after just confirm what I know for a fact.

The issues are far greater than you'd ever suspect. Not saying it was his fault, but this kid definitely put the mask on/off when he was a hockey player and when he wasn't.

Players aren't angels, they all have vices...some, rather most, manage it better than others.
Nobody is saying he was a saint. It’s well known that other things were going on.

But he proved that he would’ve been our best center whenever he got the chance. Unfortunately we didn’t play him there because he didn’t play “the right way.” Absolutely terrible way to run a team and it’s why we couldn’t find a player who could score for about 30 years.

"The name Vanya is a Slavic name that means "gift of God." It is a popular name in Russia, Ukraine, and other Slavic countries. The name is derived from the Russian word "vaniya," which means "gift." Vanya is a strong and meaningful name, and it suggests that the bearer is someone who is loved and cherished."

Indeed
This is utter bullshit.

Ivan means John and Vanya is a diminutive, so "Johnny".

None of this is true lol

I mean...yeah he had some good moments.

Like I said, I know it's vogue to put all of ills of the Montreal Canadiens on Bergevin and don't get me wrong, he has a lot of blame in that.

But this idea that he's somehow responsible for Galchenyuk's off ice issues is pushing it. They could have played him at center ever single game, he would have flamed out regardless. He wasn't dedicated to hockey off the ice like most professional athletes are, not even remotely close.

Anyone who got fooled by those off season training videos of him training in the sand in South Beach or whatever, he wasn't just there for the training lol.

He's not responsible but he put terrible people around him, didn't think it mattered to surround the kids with good mentors or establish a culture within the team that would make it easier to make better decisions or be involved with people making better decisions.

Some people are obviously more predispositioned to make certain decisions or fall into certain traps or have certain addictions. I'd never put that on a singular entity, but it's well documented that Bergevin didn't care to manage that part of things and brought bad influences into a situation where it made things worse.

Thankfully Hughes and co know the importance and we have turned the page. That's it. That's all.

That's really all that matters, to circle back to the discussion...I don't think the Montreal Canadiens have to build an entire condo to house their young players so they can live together.

Demidov seems like someone whose very grounded and serious about his game on and off the ice.

No that's the stupidest idea I've ever heard.

Just keep good people in the room. Identify the right people to bring in to your organization. Move any negative influences out. Ensure that there's proper infrastructure of coaches, psychologists and other facilities etc. that are available to players to ensure they stay on the right path.

I would think all the young players living together is probably going to inspire more bad things to happen vs. setting them up to live with a veteran or have family with them/nearby until they can handle living on their own.

When he was played at first line center he excelled.

I hate the way we handled him. And there’s no excuse for the roster mgmt. That’s entirely on Montreal. There’s no justification for playing DD ahead of him. Chuck was better in every way.

But Montreal isn’t to blame for his extracurricular activities. That’s all on Chuck. I just think we could’ve helped him more than we did.

Fortunately, MSL has a completely different philosophy. He understands skill and how to develop it. We’re finally out of that mentality of having to ‘grind’ regardless of skill set. And Demodov will be better for it.

Maybe they should all come live at my house and pay me 10% of their salary each

I am sorry that you did not go, it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Your wife is not wrong though lol

Even for a middle class, non hockey superstar like me (though still extremely good looking) it is a city of pure temptation
Not full of yourself at all

Not full of yourself at all

The crazy thing is, there’s so much more to say

St. Petersburg is flat out gorgeous and amazing. Orlov isn't wrong.

But for Demidov, the fame and adulation he'll get in Montreal will engulf anything he's experienced in St. Pete. It's not remotely close.

It's not a contest between cities. It's if can Demidov handle the traps of being a mega-celebrity. But he appears to have a good head on his shoulders. He'll be fine.
