“100+pts” is more indicative of the kind of tier he will be in rather than a numbers guessYeah, I don't prognosticate much in terms of numbers usually, but I don't see how he's not a consistent top 20 to top 10 scorer. He does it all. His hockey IQ is insane, he's a tireless worker and his puck skills are pure Kucherov like magic. How the hell did this guy drop to 5.
Sorry, no. Everyone here was shocked when it happened. His numbers were great and all of a sudden he got benched. CJ said that he was tired but there was no evidence of this at all. Once he was benched, his play dropped off a cliff. When CJ benched him or took him out of the line up, it was because he was not playing well and was running out of gas because of the long, hard NHL season and he had lots to learn.
I'm much less a fan of CJ than the next guy, but Galchenyuk was far inferior to Demidov. There's nothing Galchenyuk could have done. And he did seem to have bad cardio as he always took very short shifts. Players like Bedard, Kovalev wanted to be out there forever. Galchenyuk looked like he couldn't stay on the ice a second more.Sorry, no. Everyone here was shocked when it happened. His numbers were great and all of a sudden he got benched. Wrong pick? Sure. Should've been in the minors for a couple of years? Okay. But CJ did him no favours.
Anyways, that's how I see it. You can have the last word if you wish and then we can move on because I don't want to derail this any further.
I will just say again that I'm glad that Demidov has a new regime and favourable conditions coming in.
At this moment Vanya is arguably the best Russian prospect everMain board is taking so my Habs related Ls lately.
Remember when it was sacrilege to even suggest he could be on the same tier as "other" Russian prospects who beat the U20 point records.
He would have torched the record if not for all those games with 11 minutes or less on the bottom lines.
Of course.I'm much less a fan of CJ than the next guy, but Galchenyuk was far inferior to Demidov.
I don't know. All these old school coaches want players to play a certain way. CJ was miles better than Therrien and I don't think he'd ruin Demidov... but I think Demidov will do better under MSL.And there's nothing CJ could do to negatively affect Demidov. He'd be his favorite player guaranteed. He'd thrive under every system, under any coach.

If he played in the WJC I can’t even imagine the hype around this kid
The top 3 are Ovechkin, Malkin and DemidovI still think its Ovechkin by quite a bit, however after that its between Malkin and Demidov for 2005 post-lockout prospects. Malkin had an absolutely incredible D+2 year that put him in that Ovechkin category, but in terms of D+1s, Demidov is up there.
Demidov needs to score only 6 goals to beat the goals record for U20 hockey player in KHL during a season! He would have torched the record if not for all those games with 11 minutes or less on the bottom lines.
All with his coach actively working against him.
35 pts in 44 games now
8 PTS REMAINING TO BREAK THE RECORD FOR U20 HOCKEY PLAYER POINTS IN KHL DURING A SEASON
35 pts in 44 games now
Too much for anyone to pay. He hasn't played a single game in the NHL, but there's so much potential, I would never do a trade.I wouldn't trade that guy but just for fun, what's his value?
