I mean, I don't think there's a single team that goes up there thinking we're going to pick a player we don't think is the best available at the time we're drafting.

No one says, yeah we're going to pick the 7th best player available because he fits a need.

I also don't think "need" can be ignored as part of any pick you're making.

They clearly did that with Kotkaniemi to fill the C position, it wasn't even a secret. I'll give Hughes the excuse about Michkov, maybe they didn't know what he was going to do. BTW you make good points, I just think in some cases they had a bad draft philosophy

You’re not in the minority for wanting Michkov lol come on. You’re in the minority for thinking Reinbacher’s a plug lol.

I was like one of three who wanted Reinbacher more than any forward that wasn’t Bedard or Carlsson leading up to the draft.

Now need vs. Bpa is a tough one. You have to weigh BOTH. Reinbacher could still be BPA here but let’s say that Michkov was the BPA AT THE DRAFT; it isn’t by a big enough margin where you IGNORE our glaring need for an RD.

If you have two players close enough in your respective rankings no GM in the world is going to just not pay attention to positional need/rarity.

Reinbacher has stud pedigree and has only shown as much since arriving in NA. Injuries are a concern but there was no indication of an injury history.

Well it seems that way lol. And yes I still haven't seen anything out of Reinbacher yet to show he's a future stud, but I hope I'm wrong

i think he fanned on it just based on the follow-through of the shot. if you're going fake shot, it's all about what's happening with your stick and body before you shoot the puck - there's no need for your blade to end up at ear height. we've seen Demidov do the fake-shot pass before and it never looked like that. it was more of a fake snap shot.

anyway, this kid is going to have a 75 point rookie season next year and i can't wait.

I don’t know how you’d mess up a one-timer so bad from that spot and it somehow turns into a perfect pass. To me it seems like a set play.

Look at the replay, the face of his stick blade is facing his teammate the entire time. It was intentional.

Yeah, his stick blade was indeed facing his teammate after watching multiple times. This was a shot-pass and he fooled everybody except his teammate

you're right about the stick blade. if this was intentional, he sold the hell out of it

because they also bought into that fake nonsense like Montreal did, where you skip the BPA and draft by need. Neither Levshunov nor Reinbacher should have went where they did to skip on the talent available. Columbus is going to be in the same boat with Lyndstrom, he's broken and the took a C over the BPA.
You gonna cry about the Reinbacher pick every day? I'm Michkov's biggest fan but you are on here crying to just cry , I know it's your Shtick and all but I also know you don't even watch these prospects or their game tape.

Levshunov looks good btw , not that you would know.

Stop speaking in absolutes when these guys aren't even in the league lol
