Prospect Info: Ivan Demidov (2024 5th OA): SKA St. Petersburg (KHL): Part II

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Playing playoff games in the KHL would be great for his development. It sucks that he's not gonna get much usage to start (if at all). Important to see how he does in a pro playoff series.

As I said before Rotenberg doesn't know what he'll do or say tomorrow let alone when the playoffs time comes. He's going to be desperate, he needs to win the series vs the team they lost all games to in the regular.

As soon as something goes wrong, he'll send Ivan to the ice. And something almost certainly will go wrong.

His contract ends 31 May and somehow I doubt SKA lets him walk away early.
Exactly what I think, they have been a**hole all season, they won't let him go right after the season, they will make him offers until he finish his contract. For me there is no way he comes over after his season, only in June

Still can’t compute how a coach can justify benching its team first scorer. Me no comprende. Political shit aside, winning playoff games should mean more revenu. Should be the team primary focus.

It's actually very mature. It's how the social hierarchy works in Russia. They don't let personal merit in the way of that. It's their choice. He's getting out soon.
Not sure where you pull that perception from at a cultural level, but I can say from experience that this is at best a gross generalization.

There's ample evidence of Russian sport teams featuring young stars earning bigger roles than established veterans. SKA/Rotty doing what they're doing has nothing to do with the social/cultural dynamics of Russia and everything to do with poor leadership... Which can be found in every culture and is perhaps in no greater display than present-day North American society & politics lol

it's not like we haven't seen Canadian or American international rosters by-pass young stars for veterans performing at a lower level at the time of selection.

It's very immature to bench your best player because he doesn't have any intention to stay with the club after it.

Social hierarchy or not, it's just petty.
They're playing the only card they have left to try to get him to sign over there.

Like it or not, but SKA was/is always going to do what's best for SKA, they don't care about the Montreal Canadiens anymore more than the Montreal Canadians care about SKA St. Petersburg.

Honestly, to me at least, this is the best-case scenario because the worst thing that could happen is a late season injury that could affect him over the summer.

Sit him the rest of your season, even better...come May 31st, they can't do shit anymore.

Your making a political statement because you have others beliefs. That's fine. But keep in mind that the world does not revolve around your beliefs.

I am also North American in my beliefs, so yeah I think he should be playing, but I do not believe for a second this is a bad thing for Ivan, he's 19... he played a season in the KHL. It's a lot more about character at that age.

We are talking about the CKA. It has a lot to do about social culture dynamics.
