I didn't hear, did he come out?Nylander was a bit rough negotiating but he’s worth that easily. Make MO the captain so I can buy his jersey. 34 is back in the closet.

Their identical NTCs all become active on July 1st 2023 fyi.The only way you're going to get these guys on a discount, is if you're prepared to trade them. Dubas wasn't prepared to do so back when he negotiated the first time around.
First up is AM34, simply because he can't be traded after July 1.... if he isn't willing to buy into the "let's make you highly paid, but in line with your position amongst the relative superstars of the league"... then trade him.
Maybe the solution lies in something along the lines of a 2-year deal at $12m -- keeping him under McDavid, for the duration of McDavid's deal. He'd still only be 28 when it expires.
If he wants to set another high-water mark for contracts, then it's time to move him.
That should send a message to William Nylander, who's trade protection isn't overly crippling post-July 1.... which will in turn send a message to Mitch Marner on his next deal.
JT, I'd imagine would be a much simpler negotiation given that he'll be at the twilight of his career.
I always say it, if Tavares wanted to come home, he should’ve taken a discount. We shouldn’t have had to match, we should’ve been allowed to give him 2-3 million less. 8-9 should’ve been what he came here for. Otherwise, he didn’t come home, he just came to the biggest team that wanted to pay him. There was no sense of team from that momentThere was no option of signing him for 8 he had offers from other teams we had to at least match , Nylander held out quite literally until the last hour and if Dubas had handed him a notice terminating his team payed insurance policy and told him next years offer will be 500k less , enjoy your year in Sweden then there would be no 11 million dollar players on this team , in fact there would only be two 7.5 -8 million dollar guys and one 5 million dollar guy . Twenty million for 3 young studs is way better than 40 million for 3 and JT who we really didn't need after a great season .
The only expectations we exceed is in misery.bro the leafs failed to even be this good lool
They won ONE round in 5 years
Maybe but the core 4 still have to do more. Better depth is nice but if the big 4 don't lead the way it means nothing.Wow 8.4 million dollars? That’s like.. a whole Kerfoot + Holl + Murray…
I don’t understand where the whole “we can’t afford a supporting cast” comes from, we have 3 5+ million dollar D and had a more expensive bottom 6 than Tampa or Boston. We can afford depth, or even a big splash like Pietrangelo if he wanted to come here (Brodie’s 5 + Kerfoot’s 3.5 + 1.5 mil filler player = AP 8.8 + 2 league min forwards), we just spend that money on the wrong players.
The issue isn’t that the DrAmAtIc and UnPrEcEdEnTeD overpayments made us only able to afford Simmonds, it’s that we gave that money to Simmonds instead of Perry, we rented Foligno instead of Paul, etc.
Minnesota and Florida are fine with 10s of millions of wasted cap in penalties and bad contracts, complaining about “8 mil” in overpayments is hilarious. Anyone we wanted we could afford, management just wanted the wrong guys. Even at this deadline, having McCabe signed for cheap is nice in the big picture but even a rental Orlov on the back end would have made a huge difference in our breakout and getting shots through from the point. I think if we trade deadlines with Boston we’d be studying tape of Carolina right now.
He did take 2-3 million less. It was reported San Jose offered 13MI always say it, if Tavares wanted to come home, he should’ve taken a discount. The worst part is so many want them back. The logic applies to them too, paying 4 guys whatever % of the cap isn’t the problem, it’s paying the wrong 4 guys that hurts.
11m is not a discount. 11m means you are a top 5 player in the world. Tavares was no where near that level. We offered what many other teams would’ve, just not what ONE team offered. We should’ve gotten him for less than what anyone could’ve offered simply because he wanted to come homeHe did take 2-3 million less. It was reported San Jose offered 13M
Tavares has a Full No Movement Clause in his deal, so this team will be stuck with him for two more years. I doubt they move Marner and Matthews, so that leaves Nylander the guy who you can move. That is also the guy I would look to deal this off-season, to bring in a different dynamic to the team.

Im sure Buffalo would welcome your support. You could probably attend more games tooIf those are the solutions we get, just stop watching and start backing the idea of a second GTA team. At that point the organization is cooked, seriously cooked. They can't make good decisions.
I don't think there is necessarily anything wrong with the moves he made at the TDL.
But for whatever reason, the defense did suck hard in the playoffs this year. Years past, not as much of an issue, but this year? Gio/McCabe/Holl and even Brodie at times were far too many really rough games with just basic puck movement and management. Holl was the one who ended up getting scapegoated, but there were more than a few times when Gio/McCabe had rougher games than Holl had at any point in these playoffs.
They were good in the regular season so IDK what happened. McCabe may just be playoff inexperience but Gio/Holl/Brodie have been there before and played much better against Tampa just a year (and a few weeks against Florida/Tampa in the regular season) before.
Buffalo Ha-Ha.Im sure Buffalo would welcome your support. You could probably attend more games too
If you rank them in terms of playersSalary Cap Reality:
When looking for areas to find your discounts/reductions.
Overall Rankings for Cap Hit:
#3 - Matthews
#6 - Tavares
#7 - marner
#69 - O'Reilly
#72 - Rielly
#86 - Nylander
What are you trying to get at here.Buffalo Ha-Ha.
They just wasted 5 years where we could potentially have gone all the way if played right. Dubas is a skunk GM, wasted rebuild, all because of one snake oil salesman. I am just sorry for the people that didn't see through his BS off that bat, know what I mean Gallagbi? You know what I mean people that supported the big smiles and the NuHockey bs?
Good times.
You could argue Matthews based on Goal scoring. If you rank them in terms of players
Nylander is easily a top 86 player
Rielly showed he is easily a top 70 player
I don’t think of Marner as a top 7 player
No way in hell is Tavares a top 6 player
Matthews isn’t a top 3 player
