Its looking like the wildcard race in the East is going to be exciting

The Jackets problem this season has been performing on the road. They are 17-5-3 at home this season meanwhile they are 8-14--4 on the road. And that's with most of their injuries, no Monahan, no Jenner, no Chinakov and they haven't had Gudbranson all season.

It'll be interesting to see if they keep up their success once Jenner comes back, he's supposedly traveling with the team on this road trip and will play soon.

If there’s one team I wish to see in a playoff spot it’s the Jackets.

That’s a lot of ground to make for the Red Wings to reach Florida. Florida is pacing 99 points this season.

For the Red Wings to finish the season with 99 points they need to have 44 points in 31 games.

They need to go 21-8-2 during that span.

I’d be surprised if they can keep up that pace for much longer. All the teams in the race have gone on hot stretches and have fell back down to earth (Montreal, Ottawa, NYI, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Philly and even Tampa)
I'd like to see Detroit get past Tampa at the very least. See some young talent in the fight. It's looking like there may only be one Original Six team in the playoffs.

They're burning down a lot of villages without Monahan
I know. But the season is far from being over and the race is way to close. It took the Habs 3 lost to be out of the playoff. Same could happen to Columbus. We will see if they can keep that intensity until the end of the season.

Monahan will be back in March. Jenner will be back after the 4 Nations.

It is close. Fortunately , their schedule gets favorable. Tomorrow night @Dallas is their last game this season outside of the eastern time zone. Only Werenski is playing in the 4nations tournament, so everyone else should be able to rest up during the break. Their remaining February schedule isn’t very intimidating:

At Dallas
At Buffalo
Utah
Rangers

Break

Blackhawks
Stars
@Red wings
Redwings (March 1st outdoor game)

Only Dallas is above them in standings. Hopefully that has them well positioned for Boone, Chinakov and Monahan to ramp up for the final 7 week playoff push.
