Its looking like the wildcard race in the East is going to be exciting

In my honest opinion I think Tampa/Florida/Boston would have absolutely ran through the Metro if any of them were in that division over the last 6 years.
Except that hasn’t happened when they played the metro teams over that same time frame. Outside of the record setting seasons by Tampa and Boston, I’d bet that the metro has as good or better of a record against those 3 teams as any other division.

The race to be a playoff filler team. Other than the Rangers, who also can’t be trusted it’s a bunch of teams that will just be happy to be in playoffs and most likely have a quick exit. I will say it would be nice if Boston and Rangers can f*** off and let other teams in playoffs have a crack at it and just for something new as I’m tired of these teams always in the playoffs.
Is this coming from a Maple Leafs fan? Hope this is satire lol.

Quite the cherry picked date
If you say “since the end of 2024” it still remains true. Not sure why they don’t just say that lol.

Pens and Sabres are done:

I’m guessing it’ll be the Devils and Blue Jackets as the Wild Card teams in the end.
The Devils are too good for the wildcard, even with Markstrom out but his injury does complicate things for sure.

I thought that Boston would slip out but they keep finding a way to hang in there.

My guess is that everyone who has a spot right now stays in except the Jackets who drop out and the NYR finally wake up enough to get that wildcard.

It sure remains a logjam though with 5 teams out who still could make it.

I don't think that the Pens, NYI or Sabers have a legit shot.

Bruins winning without McAvoy nd Lindholm. Getting their top 2 D back will be huge boostGoaltending finally making a difference. The East is crazy. Anything can happen.

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh is deflated, both New York teams are completely flat, and Detroit just isn't good.

I'm not saying Detroit is good, but I think people overlook they are 10-4-1 since the coaching change and are outshooting their opponents every game (or pretty much every game?).

And they aren't beating bottom feeders, they have bested the champs Panthers, and Hot Capitals, the Jackets, and Jets.

I think people are sleeping on the fact that Detroit put themselves in the race. Personally I think Rangers and Jackets make it while OTT, MTL and DRWs all miss. But one small losing streak could change the scope of the entire race. OTT and MTL have been spitting and sputtering while Rangers have turned it on.

Ottawa is 7-2-1 in the last ten and Montreal is 6-2-2. We have a different definition of "spitting and sputtering".

They were also on a brutal west coast trip during the World Juniors, which were held in Ottawa. That's why "since Christmas break" and "last 10" tell two different stories.

Weird take. 8-6-2, and they’re now holding the 3 seed in the division.

8 wins, 8 losses. 2 are overtime loses. loses = loses.

They are literally two to three loses away from being out of a playoff spot, and leapfrogged by 4 teams salivating. claiming they are "holding" is a weird take. More like they are keeping it warm for, most likely, the NY Rangers.

But if you feel all warm and cozy inside and are sleeping good thinking they are "holding", then good for you. I wouldn't be too comfortable knowing teams below have a game or two in hand and are just a couple points from bumping my team out, especially since OTT have been "spitting and sputtering" since Christmas break.

My experience reading your posts:

“Wow, this guy sure is talking out of his ass”
“Hmm, the Athletic does suck”
“Oh, hey, its this guy again!”

and Montreal has had an absolutely brutal schedule as well. Montreal and Ottawa are what? 90 mins apart ?
I think Montreal's schedule has them travelling something like 15 000 kms more.
Everyone is getting screwed by 4 nations lol

Ottawa has the easiest schedule the rest of the way, including 8 of 9 games at home in April with only a few tough teams.

Ottawa has already gone through the tough parts of the schedule: 2 west coast trips, a southern US trip, midwest, 1 trip being 9 games.

This is why the advanced stats places have them at like 68% to make the playoffs.
