Didn't get a change to watch today's game but 14 groundball outs. Good stuff.
Yep, a great outing despite the lack of strikeouts. I'll take no walks and a ludicrous number of groundouts any day.
Burns' numbers in triples are slightly better than Goins' at the same age.
How valid is it to compare batting numbers like that though in baseball?
I'd only take it if it was David Price, since it wasn't I'll just complain about that leadoff homerun and how it means Happ is awful.
ah the benefit of low expectations. Happ scrapes through the 6th and coughs up the lead for 3 runs in 6ip against an ST lineup and people are happy.
We all knew he'd faceplant in the 6th there. Because he's Happ.

6ip, 3er, 2k. With 4 mlbers in the lineup. Obviously not awesome.
floyd, sanchez, and hutch have better spring lines in total than happ had in this start.

this is what i never really understood. Like i get they went out and paid Happ, however, play the best 5 guys not who makes the most. Idk why its only the 5th starter spot thats open rather than saying we have all spots open you need to earn it. Personally I would rather have Sanchez and Floyd in the rotation than Happ.
Not only would that be a terrible idea on the field. But it would likely also hurt our chances of signing a free agent of any significance.this is what i never really understood. If you're a switch hitter, which side do you hit from against Venditte?
Left
Venditte has to pick first, doesn't he? I assume he would pick based on which side he wants the batter hitting from, so it's mostly up to him unless the batter is comfortable not having the platoon advantage.
Yup. Although I have limited viewings of him, the consensus I hear from people is that his stuff has more break from the left side. So If I was a switch hitter and was equally comfortable with either side, then I'd probably want to hit against him as a lefty if he's pitching as a righty. But obviously, it's not up to that batter.
