We're close on this one. I like Lake simply because I think Ceciliani should get every day CF reps in AAA.

I like Burns a lot, but Barney is on a MLB deal.

I know Burns has been playing corner OF spots, can he handle CF?

He hasn't really had a chance at it, but I assume that means no.

Thole, Smoak/Colabello, and Barney are pretty much locks at this point, but the fourth OF spot looks like a really interesting battle with less than a week left to decide. I'm fine with any of Lake, Burns, or Ceciliani.

Apparently, he can. He's got the athleticism, its moreso his reads that make you not want him out there for a long sustained period of time (think Ben Revere\Rajai Davis, with less speed, but an adequate arm). In an emergency pinch, say for the remainder of a game, he can.

That said, if Pillar was to hit his chin off of adamantium, and need to be taken out of a game (the only scenario that's possible in my estimation), Saunders can shift to CF for the remainder of the game and Andy can play LF. Then make a decision as to whether you need a CF for more than a couple days, and call up one of Pompey\Cecilianni\Carrera (if he's still around).

(Preface: Fangraphs positional depth charts has the Jays SP ranked 25th)

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2016-positional-power-rankings-starting-rotations-16-30/

Part 2 has been released with 1-15.

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2016-positional-power-rankings-starting-rotations-1-15/

The Yankees (9th) and Red Sox (10th) have the best rotations in the east, followed by the Rays (15th). In reality, the Rays have the best rotation in the division (imo). Though, to be honest, all five teams are pretty much mashed in together, with the Orioles the clear 5th.

The Yankees will be rolling out four Tommy John candidates and a guy who was in Rehab as recently as the fall of 2015. Hilariously, the projection system is kicking out ~150 IP for three of them, and a whopping 185 for a guy who's UCL is literally hanging by a thread.

The Red Sox have everyone's favorite starter David Price, then the roller coaster twins, injured Eduardo Rodriguez, and then pray for rain.

Sorry, Fangraphs, but as much as I like Eovaldi, the Blue Jays rotation is just as good as the Yankees.

I think the Yankee rotation is better, but the injury risks are absolutely huge. What are the chances they get 30+ starts each out of Tanaka/Pineda/Sabathia?

I actually had a feeling we'd do that.

AJJ DFA'd though, thought they may have had a trade available with Houston or even Texas.

Tanaka's elbow is a ticking time bomb, Pineda has never made 30 starts in his life, Eovaldi had to be shut down due to elbow problems last season, Severino will likely have an innings limit, and Sabathia might not even make the rotation. So in other words, I would say it is highly unlikely...

Montero falls into the same "interesting upside but probably nothing" category as Brown.

Montero falls into the same "interesting upside but probably nothing" category as Brown.

Same category as a throw in EE was in Rolen deal and same category as Bautista was off of waivers from the Pirates.

You never know.

Anything is possible. He was once a top 10 prospect unlike the previously mentioned guys. We resurrected those two in Toronto, maybe third time around????

I assume he's a 1b/dh at this point. Can't remember the last time he caught a game. Shot in the dark with potential upside.

Also Cecilliani with another bomb.

Maybe Shapiro has a plan for Montero to use his skills off the field rather than on the field. I am sure that the Blue Jays could introduce a new type of promotion where if the Blue Jays get ten or more hits then Montero will throw an ice cream sandwich to every fan as they leave the Rogers Centre :sarcasm:

That's what "interesting" was referring to.

Or maybe Rogers is about to launch a competitive hot dog eating contest team, and Montero was cheaper to acquire than Joey Chestnut.

Rogers at it again...always nickel and diming. First Happ instead of Price, now this. Makes me sick.

I don't get the yankees SP hate. They have 4 young studly arms with very good mlb success. That is a very good rotation.
