Third episode had potential but they kinda squandered it. Still had fun though, doesn't touch the first two episodes however.

Yeah, it took me two attempts to get through the episode. I do like to make fun of my friend since (it's probably coincidental) she only likes comedy shows with laugh tracks.

Interesting...

Numerous episodes I find to be most "forced" for outrageous humor, while entertaining, are wildly beloved here. This most recent one I loved, you guys hate it.

I know what they were trying to do and making fun of those shows, but laugh tracks are just so eyerolling for me in general that I can't stand them.

It was still the best show with any laugh track for an episode though lol.

Isn't saying lol on an Internet message board the equivalent of a laugh track on a tv show?

Surprised you guys didn't like the 3rd episode. I think that's my favorite episode of this season so far.

Same. The idea behind the episode is funny on its own. I don't get hung up on a laugh track, especially if it's being used on a show within a show as a joke. This week was funny, had a couple big laughs like all so far this season.

The subtle under-his-breath "you *****" that Dennis whispers while on camera when Dee starts speaking was the best.

I didn't like the sitcom episode, but think disliking laugh-tracks is silly reasoning for that. I just thought the episode wandered around aimlessly and was more awkward/forced than funny.

Btw, am I the only one here who has always felt that that whole "Dee hopelessly thinks she's really funny and a great performer but isn't" joke has never really worked very well, even in the show's prime? (except maybe in that episode where she's a comedian)

In hindsight, I think the first two were better than the last two. The next one sounds interesting though

There's a reason why it's always been a peripheral storyline that only comes up occasionally. The fact that she's not funny isn't that entertaining and has progressively become less of her character.

This weeks was great.

Eps 2 and 4 were great, eps 1 and 3 were trash. Hopefully next week isn't trash again.

I'm pretty much the opposite. I enjoyed the first few seasons, but the show only became one of my favourites around season 5ish, once they all started turning into caricatures of themselves. If I made a list of my top 10 episodes, I think almost all of them would be from the 2nd half of the shows airing.

The fans of the show in general seem to be pretty evenly split between my opinion and yours. Look at this episodes thread on the subreddit, you'll see many claiming one of the best of all time, and many claiming one of the worse of all time.

You cringe at some reactions to the latest episodes, but people like me cringe when people praise the first few seasons so much.

I agree with the poster that said there's a few duds each season. But I think it's always been that way.
Yeah IMO season 4-7 is their prime.

It doesn't get amazing until Danny Devito tranforms into Frank. His first season was him just dipping his toes in with the character.

I for one loved the opening episode. The Charlie interrogation was absolutely brilliant, it was also very clever how they made Dennis & Mac the body types that their ego's seem to despise (fat & scrawny). I think it was a classic, so was the water park. (your avi is slaying me M.C.G 31 :handclap:)
Ep 3 was for sure not at that same level, but Uncle Jack is always a great cameo.

Ep 4 combined one of my favorite sports with my favorite show, so I loved that even if Dana White did the worst acting jobs ever:laugh:
It was also a very real commentary on the way social media interacts with important news stories while in relation to the mass media.

All in all I'm loving it. It might go down as my favorite in quite a few years at this rate.

I can see the argument for S4-7 being better than S1-3, but I disagree with it. The shift from S3 to S4 is alot like the shift from S4 to S5 of The Simpsons. Everything before that point was sharp, tightly executed, grounded and a bit understated, and everything after that point was loose, zany, and going after big gut laughs at some of the expense of a execution/pacing/writing. The latter does have some of the funniest moments (everything leading up to The Nightman Cometh is pure genius), but that's when the quality started to become a bit hit or miss/inconsistent/occasionally gimmicky for me. Still great, though.

The recent seasons, however..... I just can't agree that there are many episodes that are among the best the series has had to offer.

Now that was solid (though it didn't have the big ending).

Anyways, is that episode really how that How To Making whatever show is like? Because that's just sad.
