Which good comedies are still airing? Silicon Valley and Curb Your Enthusiasm is back.

Last season had: Frank Falls Out the Window, Mac & Dennis Move to the Suburbs, McPoyle v. Ponderosa: The Trial of the Century, and Charlie Catches a Leprechaun

Season 10: The Gang Beats Boggs, The Gang Group Dates, Mac Kills His Dad, The Gang goes on Family Fight

Season 9: Gun Fever Still Too Hot, The Gang Tries Desperately to Win an Award, Mac and Dennis Buy a Timeshare, Mac Day

Season 8: Charlie and Dee Find Love, The Gang Recycles Their Trash, The Gang Gets Analyzed, Reynolds v. Reynolds: The Cereal Defense

I can go on and on.. they are still hitting with amazing episodes this many seasons in. We will see how 11 goes, the start has been disappointing, but others like it.
There's also shows like Veep, Louie, Atlanta.

I would disagree with that assessment. Without even getting into the better shows like the ones that have been listed, I think the weaker episodes of the current seasons are not particularly better than the average episode of even pretty-okay shows like Bob's Burgers, for example. They're significantly better than the majority of the lame sitcoms that nobody watches, but that's not saying much.

The good episodes (the ones you listed) are better than that, but again, I wouldn't go as far as to say amazing. If every episode of the season was the caliber of those episodes, it still wouldn't be anywhere close to the average quality of the second or third seasons, IMO. I would call THOSE amazing. I would call the better episodes of current seasons fun/interesting, commendable, good efforts.

But that's just me. Again, I think it's really impressive that they manage to even do that, but I wouldn't oversell it, either.

I would make the argument that season 11 is actually among their best work. I didn't care for "The gang hits the slopes", or "Dee Makes a Smut Film", but the rest of their episodes were really strong, in fact I'd put the second half of the season as some of my favorite episodes.

My general feeling about It's Always Sunny is that they never create anything brilliant and flawless anymore like they did in the first 3-4 seasons, but considering that they're in their 12th season, the fact that they're able to do anything fun/interesting is super impressive.

For the most part, they seem to be trying to stretch their material by coming up with big fun appealing gimmicky concepts and relying heavily on that, and they do a halfway decent/sometimes really impressive job of executing it (this stretches all the way back to things like "The Gang Wins an Award", "Charlie Work", etc). I still like it as a guilty pleasure, but people calling these types of episodes their best written ones really do make me cringe a bit. It doesn't really feel organic anymore, and it's clear that the gimmicks are driving the material rather than the other way around (kind of like South Park), but you can't expect much more at this point-- at least it's still fun and hasn't gotten completely auto-pilot and unwatchable or anything.
They still have great regular episodes. I would state that "The Gang Goes to Hell" is their best muli-part episode since "Mac and Charlie Die", and "Charlie Catches a Leprechaun" is one of my all time favorites, perhaps in my top five.

Yeah, I'm all for the goodwill that this show still gets, but I just completely disagree with this type of sentiment, and it's a common one.

I liked the idea of the premier better than the execution, but it still wasn't bad. Could have been much funnier knowing their potential. Waterpark episode was fun all around, IMO.

So far this season is formulaic and is Always Sunny, but content wise, there haven't been enough great jokes or scenes.

Hoping for more.

I thought this one was week too in terms of jokes outside of the ending. It was almost like a generic Sunny episode and became a bit predictable.

The montage with everything is happening at the ending salvaged it somewhat but I think that for this show to work its best, they need to be scheming and dealing together and the setting for that is usually the bar (which we haven't yet seen this season funny enough).

Every single episode of this show. Every episode. They'll cut to a commercial around 1024. And every time I think to myself, okay, the show will be back on at 1027, how are they going to end this episode in three minutes? And every time, they do it.

The best example I have of this is the DENNIS system at the carnival.
