william nylander needs to sit a game or two

effort is dogshit, execution a step below that. If injured, then go the Matthews route and sit out a month, otherwise he needs to be told this shit cannot fly, whether he needs to be embarassed in the process or not.

Tbh i didn't like anyone's game particularly well apart from Woll, Tanev, Myers, and Lorentz. Woll was spectacular, even if he was fighting it at the start. I thought everyone else was subpar at best.

I'm not liking the trend of being outshot 1.5-2x every game, it seems to happen way too much.

Like being atop the atlantic though, that is cool

I'm a fan of WN, but he's fallen off a cliff as of late. Usually he looks bad and then scores from left field. He's doing nothing worth mentioning in a positive light lately.

we kinda stink but we keep winning so that's cool

It’s a very comfortable rope and dope stance though. Even when the forwards look drunken sailors and can’t make a play the defense and goaltending is just made up of huge dudes that are hard to play against. Buys time and stabilizes things before they get their sea legs, to keep using the same analogy.

Isn't this exactly what happened with the 2012 2013 KGM line team? We started relying on Reimer in January and had a good record but tanked hard FEB and MAR?

Feels like dejavu but this team is so much better. Anyways.

Winning the best feeling
You mean the 18 wheelers in 2014? They were 10 games over .500 in February, and still were in a playoff spot in early March, and then they tanked.

Michkov seems like a player who you want to try to rough up a little. Loved OEL taking a piece of him after his little dive at the end there.
Yeah that was good business. But in a few years Michkov probably gets through that sandwich.

Coasting to his normal 40 goals. Why kill yourself to get to 50 when you have been paid?

Haven’t seen Willy struggle like this for a long time. Wonder what’s up.

Nice to see Matthews back in rhythm and Knies is looking quite dangerous two right now.

And what else can you say about Woll.. very sharp!

Not their best effort but Phili was pressuring well. I liked their third period though, took control. Got the late play for the winner.

Lucky at the end that Tippet missed the open net though. Defense had it lapses. What was Timmons doing on that second goal?

Anyway special teams did their job and it’s nice to keep adding points when it’s not their A game.

Doesn't seem like luck when it happens over and over. OEL said winning when your off is how Florida grinded out wins.
we've been off for a while now, though
Lol. Pathetic.

Team finds a way to win when they used to lose, are first in the division by 6 points and this.

Loser mentality.
I really don't see anything new that they haven't shown us in the past. If anything they're playing the worst hockey they have since early last season

If the goaltending can hold up they can keep doing this, but I'm not sure it's a strong recipe for success trying to emulate the NYR model.

Leafs need to get back to how they were earlier in the season where they gave up next to nothing and dominated high danger chances. The great thing is we keep accumulating points through our bad stretch, so if we get back to normal we can create some serious distance from the pack

Ugh... that wasn't pleasant to watch. Honestly, I don't like the way the Leafs play a lot of the time. I'm not saying I want track meets constantly; what I want for them is to play well in some way. If they're going to be an airtight defensive team that wins close games, I'll take that.

But I'm sick of this low-effort first period, sloppy execution, outshot like 30 to 18 by a poor possession team type crap.

When you watch teams like EDM and WSH, they look like legit good teams with believable records. If you follow the Leafs, they don't make you think they're going to be a threat in the playoffs unless they raise their compete level and improve their execution. They get away with playing lazy, uninspired hockey because of goaltending, good play from certain defensemen and their overall talent level (don't need a lot of shots/chances to score). Maybe their record is getting to their heads. When things go south, things can get really bad in this League. Take a look at the struggles of the New York Rangers.

The Leafs need to wake up and improve their play before their play catches up to them.
