Ok fine I'm making up stats but the NHL does not keep stats for bad decisions with the puck. So I kind of had to make a generalization.

Actually maybe we should all write to The NHL stats department and suggest they come up with a stat for passes from the slot vs shots taken and call it the "MZA index.":D. I kid I kid.

Here, generalize this:

http://www.behindthenet.ca/nhl_stat...+3+5+4+6+7+8+13+14+29+30+32+33+34+45+46+63+67

MZA leads all NYR Forwards in Corsi rating. Looking at a couple of plays over a few weeks where MZA passed instead of shooting isn't leading you to the right place when evaluating him as a forward. Zukes is definitely playing like a top 6 guy and I really feel like if the guy were 6', nobody would be *****ing about him.

If you're not familiar with Corsi, I recommend reading this: http://www.behindthenet.ca/howto.php

LMAO! Corsi rating. Another absurd, useless stat. Open your eyes and look at facts. 8 games combined vs. big, physical teams in SanJose, LA, Anaheim, Phoenix, St. Louis and Boston. 0 G, 0 A. End of discussion. Stat heads spend too much time buying into useless stats instead of using common sense.

First off I do really want to thank you for pointing out this resource to me. I did not know it exaisted. I'm being serious here.

I don't think Mats leads the team in Corsi rating as based on what I see it is Krieder, but I catch your drift.

He still has 3 goals. That stat does not lie either. I've watched the games and listened to experts far more knowledgable than I( Joe Michalletti for one) who are constantly saying how Mats needs to look for his shot more.

You don't need any stat in any sport to realize how good a player is or where he should be used. If that was the case, any idiot fan could coach by looking at all these stupid, useless stats they have.

Like I said: give me the stats of every/any player for those eight games and I'll show you a player that sucked ass.

That's the end of discussion.

Yeah, missed that. He's second. Good on Kreider. :)

Mats is a passer, not a goal scorer. Kind of hard to change that. He's always had more assist than goals no matter where he's played.

So, you have a better idea than AV how MZA should be used? The guy that's been a coach of the Habs, Canucks, and Rangers? A guy that's won 130 more games than he's lost with a .577 winning % and won the President's trophy as many times as the NYR organization has?

LOL @ that.

When you really only have one LEGIT 1st line forward its hard to make a 1st line.

Stepan played like one last year. Hes been far from that player 24 games into this season.

Can't make apple pie without the apples.

What it's really time to do is for Sather to get on the phone with LaLaLaLaLaFontaine, and get Ott in Rangers blue already. Make him 3C, put Richie back on LW. Give them our 2nd this year and Del Zotto. I know they love Ott in Buffalo, but as a rental I don't know how much more he'd bring back. I wouldn't be surprised if they got a first from someone though, but I don't WANT to believe that

Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Richie - Brass - Callahan
Hagelin - Ott - Zuccarello
Boyle - Moore - Dorsett

All day.

THAT I can live with.

That God you aren't the GM. Giving a 2nd with MDZ for a role player in Ott. Puhlease. Buffalo who is in a position to demand nothing would have to add a lot more. Make it Ott and Foligno for MDZ and maybe Sather does that.

You are going to be very surprised at what Ott returns. FFS, Gaustad got a 1st rounder a couple of years back.

Also, why would Buffalo trade Foligno? You're out to lunch, dude.

So essentially you're singling out the best passer on the team as the main problem for the teams offense ? Are you high ?

Exactly who shined in those games, as far as I recall, the entire team was the worst in the NHL and everyone hated on everyone becuase they played terribly. In the first LA game, Zucc was the best Ranger on the ice. in the SanJose game, everyone played so well, lets point our finger at one guy.

He leads the team by far with primary assists. is it 10 now ?

Kreider was invisible yesterday, but I suppose that does not count since he is tall, and therefore not suspectible to scrutiny.

Worth noting: Bad players do not use Chara as a roundabout.

If you want, you can take any player on this team, and find a number of offenses worth hanging them for. So why not point your finger at everyone instead ?

I believe that was the Kreider-Stepan-Nash line that just scored.

Bwaaah!

You have to think that Kreider, Richards, and MZA really want to stick it to him.

Kreider has answered the bell twice with an assist to Brad. Keep it up boys.

So much for Corsi. Open your eyes and look at players skill sets of which MZA doesn't have a large one and Kreider does.

How do you spell jumping to conclusions after one game?

Kreider now has SEVEN career NHL regular season goals in 40+ games.

I'm pulling for the kid, but you're being an ass.

How do you spell Corsi?

Kreider-Stepan-Nash

Lets play a game: Name a Rangers line that produced 3 goals and 3 Assists each in their first game vs. Penguins.

its fine that you want to trash players, but please dont be so smug, its genuinely annoying

Lookie there. It's the Kreider-Stepan-Nash line scoring again!

Not to pile on- but I think we all saw the benefit of moving Richards to the wing and Mats to the third line!
