It’s time we talked about Zemgus.

Why? He’s excellent at playing low-event hockey *at both ends of the rink*. That’s kind of exactly what you want from a 4th liner since you can’t expect them to score much.
Because you can literally find players in the AHL that can bring more than him.

Buffalo held onto him just because. They should have jettisoned his ass a while ago.

Given how crap the Sabres were at faceoffs someone who could win a faceoff would have been massively better. Like, Luke Glendening that tends to be passed around.

Sam Carrick who brings toughness and can win faceoffs.

Derek Ryan who's been a free agent/easily had was a solid player a few years ago.

Teddy Blueger is another.

Zemgus just wasn't good enough and any other team would have punted him to free agency years ago.
