It’s time we talked about Zemgus.

No idea who or what Zemgus is. I've narrowed down the possibilities to the name of a disease, a drug to cure a disease, or (by context) a hockey player.

I'm slightly leaning towards option 3, but have definitely not ruled out options 1 or 2 yet.

Me too, man. All the other former Sabres go bonkers, even friggin Bogosian got better- looked up Gus and thought it kinda noteworthy. Hoping I reverse jinx it or whatever.

Brokegosian got better by not playing as much. When someone is on the ice 1/4 of the time less, it leaves less time to do something stupid.

My man has played 50 games, has 0 goals and 2 assists to show for it. That’s not good. Is it the worst full-time forward pace of recent memory? Will he score this season?
Ken Baumgartner still has him beat as he had 0+1=1point in 82 games back in 1997-98 playing for the Bruins: Ken Baumgartner Stats and News | NHL.com
But that was the dead puck era with real men playing real hockey so there's still a good case for Zemgus being the worst...

Hoping he can go the full 82 games without scoring. Cooper should be fired if he scratches him even once.

Considering ice time, going to go Zemgus. Baumgartner probably played 5 minutes a night with another 5-10 in the box, while Girgensons plays real minutes, even at times with the empty net.

3 years is a bit of a gamble on a 30+ year old 4th liner, that being said, it's the league minimum, so it's not like a buyout, waiver or trade to someone on the trade list is a big deal.

I couldn't have been more excited when we signed him becuase we get his best every night. But I cannot remember a worse offensive player in a long time and this is becoming a MAJOR problem.

I cannot stress enough how much the Lightning are the opposite of high octane, high scoring offense. We just had a couple of random 8 goal nights early in the year that blew up our totals. In about 45 of our other games we've played, getting ANY kind of 2nd goal has been worse than passing a kidney stone. And the only thing more painful than that has been watching Zemgus swallow everything into the black hole. All while we go 30 minutes with either every goalie we face turning into Dom Hasek or not even coming close to any actual scoring threat
