GDT: Isles vs Caps MSG2 7:00 pm

It's only preseason but the Islanders have looked pretty bad from what ive seen. I also don't think Barzal is ready for the nhl. Ho sang looks a lot more dangerous then Dal Colle who has shown nothing.

This is what happens when you play defensive against an offensive team from the drop. Lots of penalties, not much zone time. I wish we had a coaching staff that knew when was the proper time to transition the system from offense to defense and vice versa. This team was at it's best 2 years ago when they were playing an aggressive forcheck.... they can still do that and play a defensive system when warranted to get the best of both worlds. But, you know... Cappy

Somebody made a Blake Anthony B. comparison before which is pretty good. Anthony B. is always going 100 miles per hour but also looks like a headless chicken at times.

I've held that comparison since he was drafted. Just a solid all around player. I don't think he's going to produce in the NHL like he did in Jr, but he can be a waterbug, energy guy who chips in 40-50pts while playing anywhere in the bottom 9.

I loved watching the team 2 years ago. This new system which cappy is trying has not really made the team any better. In fact they gave up just as many shots and took far less shots with this new system from last season.

Don't forget we've been without Jacks tutelage for half the pre season. Now that he's back, order will be restored and we'll see major improvements this week.

I think he could maybe be a better offensive Cizikas

They aren't giving up goals with seconds remaining at as high a rate (at least it seems that way). They did cut down the goals against last season, though ended with similar results in the standings.

Ho-Sang(and Barzal) need to simplify their game. They stickhandle too much, and it results in unnecessary turnovers.

I thought Berube played well.

Yeah it almost seems like Tavares, Leddy, Halak, Boychuk, Hamonic, Ladd, PAP, etc. weren't playing. Draft lottery here we come. :shakehead

Well that was a pathetic last minute. Ho sang trying to get to cute lost the puck then they couldn't get back in the caps zone. Hard to take anything form this game as the team was short handed half the game.

Think the last group stayed out too long and were gassed by the time Ho-Sang did that. Nobody had any legs left it seemed.

They cut down on goals against, but also cut down on goals for.

Yeah, who were the regulars in this game?

Bailey, Lee, de Haan... am I missing anyone? Pulock and Pelech, if you count them. It's auditions before another cut and the rest of the World Cup guys get back into the flow of things.

PK, Oleg Kasha could have been our best player in this game, we could've won the game 12-1, and we would see posts saying "THE DEFENSE BLOWS!"

Not the best effort tonight but on the bright side - Lee looked quality, Berube had a nice game, and Barzal was impressive.

Contoversial thought: maybe it's just me, but I'm not crazy about Pulock. Can he eventually be a top 4 guy? Mostlikely. Top pair? I don't see it, but hope I'm wrong.

Back when he was drafted I remember hearing comparisons/projections to Dennis Wideman...Tbh, besides the bomb, I don't think it's all that far off.

We could've won 9-1 and we'd still be reading, "This team was more fun to watch 2 years ago!"

I love watching how the Penguins play and that's the way we used to play. Two years ago the islanders had the best shot ratio in the league. Last season the islanders gave up more shots then they took. There goaltending was outstanding is the the only reason why the goals against was down last season not because of any improved defensive play. Jesus Greiss was savior last season.

The point is that I just read a post on how the Islanders don't look good so far... I actually just read a post saying that. The only thing that would surprise me more is if PW said he wanted the Isles to grab Eberle.

I respectfully disagree. The defense didn't give up the same types of opportunities last season as they had the years earlier.

Huh?
