Barzal has pretty impressive point totals since being returned to Seattle with 16 points in 10 games. Only 2 goals though.

Are Isles fans concerned about that? Does he just not shoot the puck or does he have a bad shot? I know he is 100% a playmaker first but only 2 goals is somewhat low.
I'm personally not worried about that. Yes, probably he should shoot more to the net and I hope it will come with more experience. And when he does shoot, he haves a very good shot from what I saw.

Not worried about his goal totals.

Neither Kolesar or Gropp are particularly good with the puck on their stick, so I think Barzal's line mainly produces from Barzal carrying the puck, attracting defenders, and then finding Kolesar or Gropp in open space.

Fair enough points.

Just saw, 3 more assists for him. I think his line will be the best one for Canada in these WJC.

Definitely took him a couple of weeks to return to form and after dal colle's streak last season you can't really say the concern is unwarranted

which one? the one where he had 27 goals, 28 assists (55 pts), and a +30, in 30 games? or the playoffs, where he had 6 goals, 12 assists (18 points) in 9 games?

why be concerned about that? :sarcasm:

Pretty sure the streak he's talking about is the one where he had 25 points in 30 games, which is absurdly terrible for a top 5 pick in his +2 season.

you sure it wasn't the one where he had 27 goals, 28 assists (55 pts), and a +30, in 30 games? or the playoffs, where he had 6 goals, 12 assists (18 points) in 9 games?

those count too, ya know. or are we not allowed to see the positives?

Anybody taking notice of St. Denis down in Bridgeport? Haven't been able to see a game but he has 4 goals in 3 games after not scoring ever before in the AHL. Hopefully he can keep the scoring going and earn a call up, only thing is that he's another center.

I really liked his speed and willingness to grind during the pre-season and prospect games. He is tiny though.

Didn't say those don't count but lets not pretend dal colle looks like an awesome prospect right now

He looks like a guy that buries the puck and that's about it. NHL teams need those guys, as long as they're competent elsewhere on the ice. We'll see. I'm still a fan of trading him.

I read Jim Rutherfords article on Phil Kessel and he said something i liked, with all the flak he gets, he scores goals. Game changes but you always need goal scoring. I think Dal Colle has value but needs to prove himself more.

Beauvillier is really tiny too though, small guys tend to have speed, something we need on this team.

Beauvillier has got 4' and about 15 lbs on St. Denis, which is a lot. You can't put them on the same level sizewise; that'd be putting Clutterbuck in the same size category as Lee, or Prince in the same size category as Nelson.

I see what you mean, but small size can be used to an advantage if he's got speed and good hands.

Plus Beau will fill out more, I would expect him to add another 10 pounds. Remember when Grabner started with us? He was super skinny, like 170ish, he has added a massive amount of bulk since then.

Didn't see it posted but Bellows was named to the US prim roster

That's huge for me. I wanted bellows in the draft big time. When we landed him I went bananas and have really tried to follow him, but haven't seen much outside of the stat line. Wish I could catch more games but I know there are fans here who do and post as much as they can...

Wish there was more than five points in 14 games but. I mean keller had nine points in seven games before the injury... kind of a bit of perspective.

Under 2 feet tall and about 170 pounds? I've heard players described as "fireplugs", but it sounds like this St. Denis is literally a fireplug!

;) :)

Yeah, I'd be surprised if Beauvillier didn't end up playing at around 185-195 when he fills out.

Are you trying to say you don't think he's 1'11"? I suppose next you're going to tell me that Nelson and Lee aren't 9'11"?

 good catch on my typo. Whoops.
