I wonder if we can trade his rights to Toronto for anything of value? I wouldn't get too upset or worked up over a guy who does well overseas coming back to the NHL. Bud Holloway is a good example. Awesome player in the SHL, comes back to NA and can't crack a weak Montreal forward group.

Don't think Toronto wants any fringe prospects. They are loaded with better prospects already - they can ice two AHL teams - both would sweep Bridgeport.

Outside of Marner, Nylander and whomever they draft this year, they don't have elite prospects, but some really solid depth NHLers. My favourites being Connor Brown, Zack Hyman, Nikita Soshnikov, Brendan Leipsic, Josh Leivo - Kaspari Kapanen will need time in the AHL.

He has never stated that he cannot play in the AHL. He said that he wants to play for a franchise who believes in him. And it's hard to blame him, for the last couple of years this franchise has not been good when it comes to giving youngsters a proper chance in the NHL.

Going to stay in Sweden? I strongly doubt that. He is way to good to be stuck in the SHL. He has also said that his goal is to play in the NHL, which indicate that he wants to leave for NA ASAP.

What are your thoughts on Rakhshani? Just curious really. Oh and Kabanov?

He had a beautiful snipe and a great individual effort goal, but my favorite play was the sweet sauce he landed for Pawelczyk's goal. Superb skill and timing. Anyone thinking less than top 6 for his potential is out to lunch. Frans Nielsen is smart, hard working, and also strong defensively, but that doesn't make him a 3rd or 4th liner and the same goes for Beauvillier, who has even more offensive talent than Frans.

Very interesting that he'd have SUCH an incredible year after such a miserable one in BPort. Really makes you wonder, because the SHL is likely the 3rd best league on the planet and features a game that, at times, looks like a better parade of skills than even the NHL.

I'll say this: I believe Frolunda has one of the truly, truly special coaches out there. The guy can develop - and win. WJC success, SHL success. He's young too - he may just end up in the NHL one day.

This said, can't read what the plan is for Sundstrom (or if there is one), but I hope the Isles have followed his progress and at least KNOW why he's been so successful this season. They obviously always felt he could do what he has done, or they'd never have taken him in the 2nd round back in the day.

Throw in Tymashov and Dzierkals, two smaller skill players that have a lot of game in them.

That's the thing now... lots of little fellas in the system and in general, Shanahan and co. will have to avoid becoming Edmonton part two. I think they can and should. At some point though, some of those many prospects will have to be parlayed into bringing in an Ekman-Larsson or some player of that ilk (he's just an example).

I don't think this summer is the time.

As for Sundstrom, I don't see a market for him unless he's part of a trade as was Anders Nilsson. That kind of thing.

Either Johan comes back into the fringe and is an option in the NHL or he stays in Europe until he somehow outgrows it entirely. Which likely won't happen. But still, he had quite an impressive season and hardly a soul in the Swedish scene felt he'd be more than maybe a 10-15-25 2nd/3rd liner. He far exceeded expectations.

You also have to remember that Sundström was choosen as the MVP of the playoffs, even though he only had 9 points in 16 games (ranked #18). He is a very skilled player, in all zones.

I'm glad that you are have recognized Roger Rönnberg, he is a very skilled coach. I guess that Frölundas vision, and Rogers leadership is the reason why many young, skilled, players are joining Frölunda. Artturi Lekhonen and Kristian Vesalainen (top prospect of 2017) are two good examples.

However, you have to mention the assistant coach, Robert Ohlsson. He is going to be the head coach of Djurgården next season. I think he is one of the reasons why Roger has been this successful. They have been working together in WJC and in Frölunda, with huge success. When they show you pictures from the dressing room during the games, or the time outs... Robert Ohlsson is the one who is always in charge. Roger is standing in background.

Barzal and Ho Sang each played only 1 game over the minimum. And most of the guys above them are on the same stacked team (brandon in the whl and London in the whl).

I wouldn't say miserable. He was a responsible, smart two-way center, and one of the few regulars who wasn't a negative +/- on an offensively terrible team. Problem was he just couldn't produce on his own. I'm not that surprised he blossomed on a team with more offensive skill.

Nedeljkovic could carry them. He's been outstanding so far in the playoffs. He certainly was the biggest difference in the Kingston/Niagara series. And he outplayed Blackwood in the Barrie series.

Possibly, but Varlamov was bad in prep games and apparently has a groin injury. I'm sure he'll get advice from Bob about moving to the NHL.
