If I only somehow could read Swedish. lol

You should learn!

Well, in the article it says that Scott Pellerin, the director of player development of Toronto Maple Leafs and Barry Smith, who got the same role for Chicago Blackhawks has been scouting him this season. Just to name a few.

There is no reason for us to let other teams steal our diamonds.

I actually google translated it

Some players are disturbed by the talking solicitation for next season - and put the lid on the total. Others enjoy. As Johan Sundström, NHL current.

The Centre came home from America with sprained confidence to restart the heart club. Give yourself a chance to reach the NHL via SHL, as well.
"That was the idea when I got home last summer, but it would go this good was nothing I expecting me directly. That it would be the debut of the Three Crowns, for example. I have got a very nice role here, but I have also earned it - because I have developed every day, "says Johan.

During the season Sundstrom then debuted in the national team - and are even well enough so that he is in and fight for a World Cup slot in pairs MÃ¥rts last tournament as coach.

He tops the GP racing poängliga far - and NHL clubs have realized that they can have missed something.

New York Islanders are still sitting on a Sundström rights, but now the club has contacted - because there are a number of stakeholders who are willing to take over the Frölunda player.

Toronto Maple Leafs and Scott Pellerin, director of play development and Johan's old coach in the AHL, was visiting Ornskoldsvik - and Barry Smith, who has the same role in the Chicago Blackhawks, has also visited Gothenburg to see at Sundstrom.

Will you be affected?

"You can not ignore it, because I live and eat ice hockey. But there is absolutely nothing negative - it's just fun. I try to surf on the wave, people think I have done something good, "says Johan.

And now, as the playoffs go into the next phase would Sundstrom also raise his and the team's games.

"To take me where I want - and it's back to the NHL - so you have to walk far with Frolunda in a playoff. The war on a WC-seat. The game is out here in the playoffs that will show whether I deserve it or not ... "

That Memorial Cup dream might actually become a reality. Niagara is rolling, Seattle is up 2-0, and Shawinigan is knotted at 1 a piece, coming off of a dominating victory.

If all three of the boys make it, that would be a pretty nice road trip/vacation destination.

Probably best not to count our chickens before they hatch. Barrie and Kingston are good, but London(the team they will most likely face in the finals) are at a different level. Brandon would also be tough to beat. Shawinigan is our best bet

Niagara still has to get through London/Erie.

Not counting chickens, just saying it's still alive. Ya Gotta Believe.

I'm always open to any kind of hockey trips. Nothing better.

Scott Pellerin was the one who took over for Brent Thompson in BP while he was Asst. Coach with the Isles briefly. So he coached Sundstrom in the '12-'13 season

I think he'll be subjected to the expansion draft as he has played two seasons in Bridgeport so we should either slot him in on the third line to replace Grabovski or trade him for a second rounder. It's a good problem to have.

I kinda liked Sundström in much the same way I liked Ullström, but would he really take a place above someone like Quine who's been lights out since coming up? and would he consider coming back unless its a one-way deal an would we offer him that? Unless Snow really thinks he is NHL material trading him s the better option

Why are we discussing a guy who is either going to pay in Sweden next year or be traded?

He could surprise and make the big club out of camp. But if he's in that position, that means garth hadn't done his job during the offseason.

Is sundstrom better than Quine? Strome? Barzal? Ho-Sang?

Unless he's totally different than the last time I saw him, it's a clear no.

One good season? He has been excellent. And you have to remember that he is playing for Frölunda. Big difference! ;)

Players like Erik Karlsson, Henrik Lundqvist, Loui Eriksson, Daniel Alfredsson, John Klingberg and Alexander Steen (just to name a few) are all from Frölunda.

It would be foolish to not give him another chance.

It would be smart to bring him over again

The timing of the Sundstrom discussion is ironic, as I just posted this yesterday in the injury thread (just copying the Sundstrom part):

What I wouldn't give to see Johan Sundstom back, if a call up was truly needed. I always liked him, just think he needs more time to develop and find his game overseas. I also feel that he needed some time to fill out physically and grow into his body type. Maybe another season or two in Sweden and then he could be an effective bottom 6 guy for cheap. The Isles might need a cheap, young vet down the line when some of the young prospects and vets start increasing salary. Although by then he just might stay home and play locally rather than roll the dice in North America again.

Talking about Sundstrom, when y'all should be watching this:

http://new.ontariohockeyleague.com/...hts-icedogs-corral-colts-take-3-0-series-lead

The number of great pro plays Ho-Sang makes on those highlights. Creates the Harper goal with a forecheck. Beats his mark to the net with his stick down, scores. Sets up a PP goal. Retrieves the puck, waits, and and no-doubt clears it in the final moments, creating the EN goal to seal the game. It's literally everything you want from the kid. Wow. :yo:

The truth is, folks, that when you have a group of young forwards who are about to become pros (Dal Colle, Ho-Sang, and I believe Barzal will be a NHL'er next year), you're going to lose guys like Sundstrom who won't make the NYI unless, God forbid, we lose or trade Cizikas. Obviously, Sundstrome doesn't want to toil in BPT unless he's going to get a real shot, which nobody can blame him for. It's nothing to get upset about. Trade the kid's rights.

I like Ho-Sang and am very happy to have him in the system. However, a team needs top-6 players (who get paid the big $$$'s eventually) AND some cheap, solid depth on the bottom-6 as well. Otherwise you have to overpay vets to do the same job and that is how you get cap-strapped and cannot add improvements or depth down the line.

The Penguins found that out the hard way a few years ago. You can go from legit cup contender to first-round ouster when the injuries pile up and you cannot infuse young players into the lineup to help. The Raggie$ are about to learn this lesson as well, unless they make some drastic changes and rebuild their system.

Sure. But if the kid doesn't want to play for your AHL franchise, he's of no use. He's in Sweden and doesn't think he'll get a real chance with NYI playing with the Sound Tigers. Unless he makes the big club, he's obviously going to stay in Sweden. Flip for an asset. Toronto makes sense. Third round picks can be traded for depth players at the deadline. Unless NYI has no cap space to do so, there's really no issue.

He has never stated that he cannot play in the AHL. He said that he wants to play for a franchise who believes in him. And it's hard to blame him, for the last couple of years this franchise has not been good when it comes to giving youngsters a proper chance in the NHL.

Going to stay in Sweden? I strongly doubt that. He is way to good to be stuck in the SHL. He has also said that his goal is to play in the NHL, which indicate that he wants to leave for NA ASAP.

He goes backwards over 3 years in BPT, he bellyaches, and you want NYI to give him a NHL chance? Andre Rufener, is that you?

Which is exactly why NYI should trade him.
