Not sure what has happened to Beauvillier in the past 3 games but he is just ripping it up, 3 points(2G, 1A) tonight(8 in his last 3 games after a very underwhelming first 10 games). Shawinigan wins 6-1

It was a pretty small sample size. Sometimes you just don't score for a couple of games. Luckily Beauvillier is the type of player who makes an impact even when he's held off the scoresheet.

Can't wait until he's in BK. Absolutely love his game.

Something must have been wrong those first 2 series though because Shawinigan were playing much easier competition then they are now.

By the way my mistake Shawinigan won 7-1(they scored with like 10 seconds left), I made the mistake of posting the final score with a minute left assuming nothing would happen. lol

Niagara beat the Colts 4-1 as well, Ho Sang with an assist on the game winning goal. Niagara definitely out performing their position in the standings since Kingston and Barrie were supposed to be the teams to beat in the East(they up 2-0 on Barrie now)

ETA: Seattle wins 3-2, Barzal 1 goal(they up 2-0)

Frölunda just became SHL champions! Johan Sundström chosen as the best player in the playoffs.

Still believe he can be a solid 2way middle 6 center.

I agree with you. I've said it before, and I say it again, he has developed massively this season. If Frans walks after the season, I think Johan is a decent replacement.

I always liked Sunstrom, but that is an incredibly bold statement.

How many games have you watched him play this season?

Yeah, I like Sundstrom..... but to say he can stop in and replace Frans' 50 points and all the important minutes he gives us? I'd say it's more likely Casey Cizikas becomes that guy, but even that is a stretch. Better off just signing the guy, he's well worth whatever his cap hit will be.

Agreed. If Sundtrom could "step right in" and get 50 points and be amazing defensively that kind of prospect would be much much more highly touted. Sundstrom had 36 points in 51 games this season which would come out to about 57 points had he played 82 games. Incredibly doubtful anyone would come from a league other than the NHL and immediately produce at the same points/game ratio.

Also I love Cizikas, but he does not have the same physical ability as Nielsen. I think he's stuck being a 4th line grinder for is career at the NHL level.

Wow I forgot about Sundstrom. I remember there was a point when he was thought of pretty highly... but that seemed to fizzle away over time.

Anyway, glad to hear we may still have something good in him and hope to hear more in the coming months

True, it may have been a bold statement. However, I don't believe he will be as good as Frans in the beginning (since Frans is one of the best), but I think he can develop even further, and I'm sure that he can reach Frans level. I really hope they will give him the chance in the NHL, I believe he is ready since he has already played some seasons in the AHL. He knows how to adapt to a smaller rink, which usually is the biggest problem for European players. Johan is way to good to be stuck in the AHL (or in Europe).

Around 35-40.

It took Nielsen until he was 25 until he became the Nielsen we all know and love. Same could happen with Sundstrom. He's bigger but not as fast. I'm pretty sure we still own his rights. IF the Isles have no intention of re-signing Nielsen they should consider bringing him back and let him develop.

I found an interview with Johan Sundström, he is talking about his future with the Islanders.

"I have in my future a hard time seeing me playing for the Islanders. I would like to be traded to a team who believes in me"

At the moment New York Islanders own his rights, who would like another team to "take over" the rights.

"I know that other teams have showed interest. But as I said, Islanders controls everything regarding this question. If they don't want to trade me, there won't be any trade. Many people have seen my season, and they like what they see!"

I dunno, I get his point but his stats weren't all that great in Bridgeport. Glad he bounced back in SEL, I guess.

We should trade him for a pick or use him to sweeten some other deal. There are plenty of teams out there who could use a good two-way center and this guys' value just went up a couple of notches.

I'm assuming he's been playing center in Sweden? Assuming Frans is re-signed, I don't see any room for him down the middle, but we're going to need RWers.

That's a big assumption. He's a righty though, so maybe he could play third line RW? We're pretty shallow on that side.

1. Frans took so long to develop because he had no one to take him to the next level Yashin wasn't gonna do it.

2. Sundstrom, from what I remember didn't have the size. When I say this, I mean bulk, not height. He's too light for his frame. Just checked..he still doesn't. 200 pounds and 6'2" At that height..he should be between 215 and 225. Doesn't sound like much, but from what I remember when he came up..he was being banged (pushed around - man handled) up a lot. Rakhshani could at least pass and make plays...too bad he just didn't have the size or I think he would have done well in this league.

3. I'd like to trade for Darren Helm..I think he's better than Bernier..just may not come as cheap...his last contract was 4 years 8.5 mill..I figure he'd probably get roughly the same as his contract is up for renewal this year. He also brings a winning attitude and the experience we really need to help our youngsters.

Nobody is trading anything of significant value for Sundstrom because he a had good season overseas. Every team has a prospect that is doing well in Europe.

One good season? He has been excellent. And you have to remember that he is playing for Frölunda. Big difference! ;)

Players like Erik Karlsson, Henrik Lundqvist, Loui Eriksson, Daniel Alfredsson, John Klingberg and Alexander Steen (just to name a few) are all from Frölunda.

It would be foolish to not give him another chance.
